Wanted! Rock star / Lead Developer – Salary negotiable + stock options
at Rupert Hurley in London
It is often said that UK & European start-ups don’t “think big”. That all the best, biggest, most successful, whatever, web firms only come out of the Valley…. well we are out to challenge that idea.
What are we doing?
We are working on building a new social network, with global reach and extraordinary potential. Really, we’re talking about creating a community that could easily extend to 100s of thousands, if not millions of users….and pretty quickly, too!
Whilst we appreciate that is a “bit light”, as this is not a public project, we would be more than happy to discuss the project in full after an initial chat.
Why are we doing it?
Because it is a fundamentally good idea…and one too good not to build. And to make money! Lots of it. There, so now that’s out of the way…our driving goal is to build something really big, huge in fact, and which is going to be very, very valuable. There is also a philanthropic aspect that will come about as a result of the project, and so there will be glory aplenty, but it will take guts and determination to succeed, so this is not a project for the faint of heart.
So think LinkedIn, but with a population of 20 million members…
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a true “rock star”. Someone who has lead developed or built a large scale platform/website, and has intimate knowledge of scaling, security, infrastructure and technology stacks.
Whilst mobile will obviously be a key ingredient for our service, we are not necessarily looking for an iOS/Android/PhoneGap etc. guru, but someone who appreciates how it would sit and play within the product/service as a whole – although, if you also have these skills, too, that would be a bonus.
So this is not a position for a college leaver, or prima donnas for that matter. We need someone who is prepared to get their hands dirty, take the lead and get this thing built – most likely hacking themselves to begin with, and as we grow to develop a “crack team” around them.
This position could easily grow into a CTO type role, but for now, we are more interested in the “do” than the “could do”.
Who are we?
A group of people committed to building something truly extraordinary, and from the worlds of e-commerce, market research, online advertising, recruitment and publishing. We are a small team, so the ability to work in that environment and to appreciate that is an absolute must – although we don’t expect to stay small for very long. You can play a pivotal role in delivering our potential.
When do we want you?
We want to talk to you as soon as possible! We have the initial funding in place to get the project moving, and ideally want the MVP launched as early as the start of 2013. We have access to a base drupal platform with over £100k worth of development already built into it, but could also start with a clean slate/platform.
What are we offering?
This will be a salaried position, and really want to hear from you in terms of what you currently earn and what your expectations would be for this role – remember we are still a start-up, but an ambitious one! There will be generous stock options, too, for the right candidate. Will we look after you? Hell yeah!
Send us your CV, with current salary, and indication of your ideal package.
Show us what you have done out in the wild – got a github etc.? Great let’s see it! Got a porfolio as well? Even better.
Basically show us why you’re the person who is going to be behind a new global brand. We look forward to hearing from you!!
