Lead Experience Designer

at The App Business in London

As a Lead Experience Designer at TAB, your objective will be to define the products of tomorrow and shape and drive our Design team’s capabilities, as we continue to scale at pace. You’ll be developing products for some of the world’s biggest brands, including TFL, Ford, Met Office and Unilever; providing guidance to the teams and pushing all our Designers to produce work of exceptional quality. You’ll be ambitious and passionate about Design’s role in product development; shaping our approach and becoming instrumental in scaling the team to enable great work!

Reporting into the Head of Design, you’ll be working on products and services across a wide variety of industries, helping our ambitious organisations to become more mobile and agile. You’ll be involved in the entire cycle; from planning through to execution, becoming an ever-present advocate for the user. You’ll help your team to make informed design decisions, placing the needs of the user and the business at the very heart of your work.

You will be:

- Working with the Head of Design to shape the strategic direction of the Design team.
- Setting the agenda and driving the weekly and monthly cadence for the whole Design team.
- Coaching Design team members to rapidly progress their careers and contribution to TAB.
- Establishing innovative ways of creating exciting ideas, bringing them to life and presenting them.
- Having full visibility and responsibility over client and customer context for design decisions.
- Actively involved in growing the Design team by finding and attracting the best Design talent.
- Understanding the needs of the live products and how they work, and matching them with the right Design team skills.

You must have:

- Significant experience at a Lead level, ideally within an agency setting.
- Strong experience shaping design approaches for multi-£million, client-facing projects.
- Worked within multidisciplinary teams and feel comfortable in a fast-paced agile environment.
- Extensive involvement in planning and conducting design research, and identifying patterns and insights from the research to inform and shape your product’s strategy.
- Adept at knowing when and how to use a range of deliverables (eg. user journeys, task models) to convey your arguments and support design decisions
- Extensive experience using Adobe CC Suite, Sketch, Keynote and prototyping tools of your choice.
- Ideally a keen interest and active involvement within the Design community (through meetups, talks articles etc).
