Co-Founder needed for new Events start-up

at Arto in Edinburgh

We are looking for an ambitious and skilled entrepreneur with a proven track record to join our Start-up. The business is an annual artists conference:

The creative industries in the UK is valued at £84.1 Billion, which equates to around £10 million an hour. The fastest growing industry in the UK with an estimated workforce of 2.9 million (more than those employed by the NHS), this number does not include anyone working part time or for free, which is estimated to be triple this amount. Despite these figures and the UK remaining a global leader in the creative industries, some alarming statistics remain, such as;
-> The UK government contributes only 0.1% of GDP to the creative industries (despite the fact the creative industries contributes 0.4% on average to the GDP)
-> Massive cuts to arts budgets and local funding bodies since 2008
-> Most performers are still expected to work for free
-> Severe lack of performers/artists from underprivileged backgrounds in the industry (due to high industry costs & available opportunities)
-> PPL points out nearly all musicians make less than £16,000 a year, figures reveal most sit below the official poverty line.

artos will strive in the creative sector by tackling all the current above problems that exist by hosting an annual creative conference in Edinburgh (the home of fringe festival). There will be networking, speakers and plenty of workshops - the whole event will help to launch a variety of careers.

We are looking for a co-founder who has experience of launching a conference business, who is passionate about making a change in a well established industry and who can contribute to all aspects of the business. Ideally we would like someone who has experience in event planning.

looking for someone who is passionate and who is happy to take some shares along with occasional free beer and pizza..

Apologies for the vagueness of this advertisement, for obvious reasons we are not able to post more defined details of how our conference will operate - but will happily discuss this over a coffee.

We look forward to hearing from you!
