Full-stack Web Developer

at Beauhurst in London

Do you love working with Django and Python? Are you a fearless generalist that doesn’t mind getting stuck into different problems? Then we might have a job for you…

About us and your role:

Beauhurst is on a mission to track every interesting startup and high-growth company in the UK. We help advisors, investors, government and educators learn about the UK’s most ambitious companies through our online platform.
As we expand our data coverage and strive to make our product even more useful, you’ll help us tackling a range of interesting problems, such as:

  • Modeling, storing and enabling efficient and relevant user searches over large-scale datasets (think millions of records)
  • Improving the way in which our data is currently accessed – from eye-popping graphical visualisations to aggregated statistics that’ll make our users go “Aha!”
  • Helping us to keep it all together by building accurate internal monitoring and data collection tools

Don’t worry if all of this seems a bit daunting for one person – you’ll be working alongside a team of committed Djangonauts in a tightly-knit, expanding development team.

We’re looking for:

  • Proficiency in Python and experience in server-side development with Django
  • Solid front-end development basics (HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript)
  • Experience with Postgresql or other relational databases
  • A natural problem-solver with a passion for learning

Bonus points if you have one or more of these:

  • Experience in building and deploying web applications with Docker
  • Familiarity with Linux and Amazon Web Services (EC2)
  • Experience with testing (Pytest, Selenium) and continuous integration
  • Worked with a Javascript framework (Backbone, Vue.js, Angular, etc.) or visualisation library (d3, Flot, etc.)

What it’s like to work with us:

  • Friendly, relaxed and collaborative startup culture including an expanding development team with a flat structure
  • Monthly skill-sharing meetings in our office and sponsorship to attend relevant conferences (PyCon, DjangoCon, PyData)
  • Competitive salary (of course!)
  • Access to a well-stocked ever growing programming book collection
  • Our newly renovated Brixton office is stocked with coffee, tea, beer, soft drinks, fresh fruit and snacks
  • Regular evenings out (we’re a very sociable bunch!)
