Head of Insight & BI

at Swoon Editions in London

DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for an exceptional Head of Insight & BI to drive the strategic and tactical implementation of this new function and to build a team that supports our ongoing business needs as we continue to grow rapidly.

Data sits at the heart of our business and unlike a traditional retailer informs our product selection and innovation. We launch 3-5 designs on our website every single day. A new design cycle begins every month which means that we can constantly iterate our range based on the latest data points. The pace is fast (we get a designer's sketch to site in 12 weeks) and the ability to react to data is unprecedented in the industry.

You will work closely with heads of all business functions, to understand their information requirements, and ensure the business intelligence team is partnering with them to provide useful, accurate and timely data; with a particular focus on buying, merchandising, supply chain, marketing and finance, but the role will truly touch on all areas of the business.

You'll be joining a high growth business, where innovation and dynamism thrive. The business already has some excellent tools and systems, and is producing highly valuable information, but there is lots to be done, improving the speed, accuracy and consistency of information and building a function that will be fit for future growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the CFO, the Head of Insight & BI will be responsible for:

Agreeing a strategy for BI, in conjunction with the executive team, then devising and implementing subsequent plans

Establishing and implementing BI policies, overseeing master data governance, data warehousing and ensuring delivery of timely reporting and analysis

Working with business stakeholders to establish critical success factors and key performance metrics ensuring ease of analysis and review

Managing suppliers and internal team members to ensure optimum allocation of resources in delivery of defined goals

Acting as a ‘Competence Centre’ for BI, liaising with the technology function and key stakeholders across all other departments

In addition, the role will be accountable for significantly increasing the use of business intelligence for:

The speed of feedback, review and strength of evidence based decision making

The pre-emptive and predictive business actions taken across the whole group

The unearthing and proving of business opportunities using data supporting revenue growth and profitability targets

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have experience of being in an internal business intelligence team within a change or high growth environment. To succeed in this role you will have the following:

A proven track record of delivering and implementing a business intelligence strategy that enhanced company performance

Experience of working with both technical and non-technical management information stakeholders

Demonstrable experience of establishing policies, process and performance metrics that align and tell one version of the truth across multiple departments

Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to manage cross-discipline stakeholders

Some history of successfully partnering with database developers and working with data warehouses

Experience of reporting business performance utilising an array of innovative technology and analytics platforms

A hands-on, entrepreneurial and forward thinking approach to strategic and tactical issues

Proven experience of managing and developing a small team of BI analysts
