iOS Dev wanted to build a lightweight News App with a UX/UI Designer

at N/A in London

So a couple of weeks back Verizon acquired Yahoo and decided to shut down in my opinion its best app and one of the best apps I've ever used Yahoo News Digest. If you weren't familiar with the app the concept was simple: every day at 08:00 and 18:00, News Digest would prompt you to scroll through a curated selection of the top 6-8 news stories from around the world. Each story was summarised for quick reading and accompanied by photos and facts to help you make sense of it all. It's been my go-to app for following world news for a few years now and I'll be sorry to see it go.

The app had 9.5 Million downloads since its launch and since hearing of its closure a few days ago, users have been taking to social media to express their disappointment. While there's no shortage of news aggregation apps out there - to my knowledge, there is no other curated daily news digest that reaches anywhere near the same level of quality in terms of content and experience from a design and usability standpoint.

I'm a senior UX/UI designer. If you're an iOS Dev who would first and foremost like to fill the void that will arise each day at 08:00 and 18:00 and you (secondly) see opportunity in serving some of the existing News Digest users who are now currently seeking an alternative - let's bounce some ideas and see what happens.
