Engineer (Hardware/Electronics/e-textiles)

at Infi-tex in London

(₤22000 - ₤28000 per year)

Infi-tex is an exciting young startup producing a patented smart textile pressure sensor, easily adaptable to many requirements from customers. We are working at the apex of the exciting fields of wearable technology, fashion/technology and new developments in electronics and printed circuits.

We’re currently launching our first product using our smart textile, our SoftSwitch soft buttons. We urgently need to grow our small team to help us keep up with demand as well as working on new developments in textiles and the exciting field of printed circuits.

We are looking for a Graduate Engineer to join our small team based in Woolwich, South London. You can come from an Electronics, Mechanical or Product Design background and an interest or experience with textiles would be an advantage. Alternatively, if you have strong skills in garment production and management and are willing to learn electronics and gain good experience at the forefront of smart clothing, this could be a good opportunity for you.

You’ll be assisting designing, implementing and testing new hardware and firmware, so experience of Arduino and 3D modelling would be an advantage. We’re on the road to scaling up our designs into production capability so this will be a good opportunity to be involved at every stage of that process, and a great opportunity to shape the future of the company.

As well as electronics, we spend a lot of time researching and testing technical textiles, our own patented textile and others on the market. We are working on making garments and other textile products out of our textiles, in small batch numbers as well as working with mass producers so it would be helpful if you have handled smart textiles before but not essential. If you’ve come from a garment design and production background, and you have a strong willingness to learn electronics, or you’ve been involved in the maker community, we’d like to talk too.

Requirements
- EITHER an Electronics/Mechanical/Design Engineering Degree OR Textiles Management
- Knowledge of Arduino, Bluetooth/BLE, and embedded software
- 3D design
- Testing electronics and software
- Experience with Conductive Textiles an advantage
- Self Starter, willing to work alone or with a small team.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to learn new technology and communicate your findings
- Ability to work in the UK and be based or relocate to London

Whilst this is a full-time position, we are willing to discuss part-time working, if you are still studying for example. If you’ve got the right skillset and drive to help bring Infi-tex to market we’d love to hear from you.
