You will be responsible for ensuring there is a clear vision of our products, communicating the vision in the form of well-defined user stories and prioritising these user stories with the team and ensuring the end product is delivered to the expected standard in within the time-frame given.

Smarter is an award winning British connected home company with a product range that connects existing appliances to the internet, allowing you to control them from your phone. At Smarter we design, manufacturer and distribute our products throughout Europe and the US with customers such as Currys, John Lewis and Best Buy. We are a passionate team of 25 people based in London with plans to expand the business globally. Growing at a rate of 300% we are set to become one of the fastest growing UK technology companies.


Main roles and responsibilities


  • To be committed to the final product and its vision
  • To have full vision of the product, customer feedback, market research and other stakeholders feedback
  • Pioneer change and improvements to identify problems and reach solutions faster
  • Roadmap the product journey and ensure each stakeholder is able to complete their job
  • Work closely with Senior Management to ensure the company vision is fulfilled
  • Gather requirements and formulate strategies for the building of products that meet a genuine need
  • Ensure the development team has everything they need to deliver on the company’s strategic goals
  • Capture user requirements and work with the development team to turn them into clear, actionable user-stories
  • Defining, monitoring and analysing KPI’s and other metrics for launched products and feeding lessons learned back into product development process
  • Acquire and action customer feedback
  • Help the team leaders organise Sprint Review meetings and attend sprint planning meetings
  • Clearly communicate product plans, benefits and results to a wide range of audiences both internal and external
  • Build and maintain relationships with Stakeholders and key decision makers


Core Skills/Experience


The following skills/experiences are considered a must in-order to be considered for employment:


  • 3-4 years’ experience in Product ownership
  • Experience in developing scalable, high quality and high-performance software and/or hardware products
  • Good understanding of cloud-hosted environments and SAAS platform product offerings
  • High level technical understanding of modern software architecture
  • Strong business acumen and excellent levels of numeracy
  • Proficient at generating high quality documentation including user stories, use cases, flow diagrams and wire- frames
  • Passionate about great user design and experience
  • Self-motivated and able to work efficiently with little supervision
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and appropriately manage expectations
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Prioritise workload effectively with high attention to detail
