We are looking for a brilliant UX Design Lead, who will work in our growing Product Team to craft our teacher and student-facing applications. Part of being on this team is a love for building a product you’re proud to share with your friends and family.

Purpose of the role
The UX Design Lead is a new and exciting role that will be instrumental in Lyfta’s continued growth and success. The UX Design Lead will be an integral part of the cross-functional Product team, consisting of Product Owner, Head of Engineering, Creative Designer and a team of developers, working to improve and build on Lyfta’s existing learning offering, as well as design new products for new market segments. S(he) will be leading the user experience design of all Lyfta’s products and services, supervising the Creative Designer.
Role description & responsibilities
The UX Design Lead is responsible for the user experience design of all Lyfta services and products. (S)he participates in weekly product meetings and shares her/his research insights and user stories with the team, creates wireframes and task flows for feedback and actions the final designs based on spec. The UX Design Lead collaborates with the Product Owner to build the best tools and processes to gather user feedback and closely monitors usage data to better understand user behaviour. S(he) will conduct user research through existing channels and propose new ways to engage in user research.
The UX Design Lead is tasked to communicate design ideas through wireframes and click-through prototypes, find creative ways to solve UX problems (e.g. usability, accessibility), and to implement attractive designs. S(he) is involved with the entire product cycle starting from research and data analysis, concept and usability testing, defining design requirements, providing feedback to developers, iteration and evaluation of the product’s success.
Additionally, s(he) keeps abreast of industry trends, best practices and tools and contributes with product feature suggestions that give Lyfta a competitive edge in the market.
Skills and experience
- 5+ years of commercial experience in UX/UI design
- Experience leading a team and working with colleagues in senior roles
- Proven experience in user research and testing
- Strong portfolio of design projects
- Self-starter with a can-do attitude
- Expertise in developing wireframes, task flows and click-through prototypes
- Experience with design systems, such as Abstract, Figma or Sketch
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience collaborating with other designers and developers to create intuitive user-friendly software for both web and mobile interfaces
- Proficiency with interaction design, especially in 360° and VR environments is desirable
- An understanding of the EdTech sector or working on EdTech products is desirable
- An understanding of HMTL/CSS is a plus
Remuneration and benefits
- 30,000 GBP p/a (50,000 pro-rata)
