System Administrator (Linux)
Company and Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Linux Systems Administrator to join our well funded, dynamic media company. The Group has offices in the key media and tech hubs of London, Singapore, LA, Sydney & Tokyo and works with blue chip media organisations such as the BBC, Discovery and the biggest streaming services in the world. The Chairman has a software development background so the business has a tech forward mindset running through its core.
The role is based in London at least 1-2 day per week but can be remote for the rest of the week if desired.
About You
As a Linux Systems Administrator, you will be developing and supporting services on our Linux/AWS infrastructure. You will have experience supporting Windows workstations and servers within a Linux server environment. The role will be varied and will provide a great opportunity to expand your skill set with the goal of training you up to be a full DevOps engineer, capable of independently managing Cloud AWS infrastructure.
Day to day duties will encompass operational tasks on servers, software deployments, config, troubleshooting, user support, automating, monitoring, integration of new software, scripting and coding, DevOps, evaluating new technologies and even getting involved in systems design, architecture and deployment! This is a high growth company with a flat management structure offering real scope for progression and development.
Ideal Skills (not all are essential)
Linux Systems Administration using principally Ubuntu, Debian or Centos
Familiarity of networking and network protocols
Scripting server automation in Python, Bash, Shell, Perl etc
Fault diagnosis and ability to troubleshoot
Experience using monitoring tools including Zabbix, Rudder, Grafana etc
Config management systems (ideally some knowledge of Chef, Puppet, Salt, etc)
Any knowledge of the following would also be beneficial: virtualisation technologies, front end frameworks eg HTML, CSS
Requirements & Experience
Spoken and written English at professional level
3 Years+ experience as Linux SysAdmin or Degree Level Qualification (or both!)
Must be positive, open and friendly in interactions with staff and clients
Down to earth with good communication & interpersonal skills
High attention to detail but flexible self-starter approach
Experience working in a media or video related environment would help your application
