What we're looking for:

As part of the billx Engineering Team, you will play a key role in creating pioneering technology at the forefront of a payment revolution. You will be a self-starter and happy to be autonomous and trusted in a fast-paced environment where you will see the results of your work quickly. You’ll be excited by the early stage of the company, offering a significant opportunity to influence, create, design, and decide our product evolution and the direction of the Open Banking Industry.

You will work across departments to gain expert knowledge of our business problems, APIs, backend, frontend, product, app and design to build a market-leading technology.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll be building new functionality and improving our Open Banking payment platform and APIs alongside a dedicated and diverse team of software engineers and product owners. Some key responsibilities:

  • Building a resilient backend of a product that people will use every day
  • Collaborating with product owners, designers and other engineers to implement our roadmap
  • Recommending improvements and iterative developments to our products, implementation and stack
  • Obsessing over customer outcomes and making data-informed decisions
  • Building efficient and reusable services
  • Working in an environment that deals with ambiguity every day
  • Participating in standups and code reviews with other engineers
  • Identifying and resolving scalability and performance issues
  • Involving yourself in the wider business growth ideas and your own success.

You will have experience in:

  • TypeScript
  • NodeJS
  • MySQL/Postgres
  • Unit Testing tools such as Mocha
  • Rest APIs
  • ORM
  • Firm grasp of the JavaScript language (ES6+)
  • Knowledge of both functional and object-oriented programming
  • Worked in an agile environment
  • Ability to write well-documented, clean Javascript code

  • Compensation: £60-75k depending on experience and a company pension scheme.
