Payroll Administrator
Reporting into the Payroll Manager, you will be asked to provide hands-on support during a busy period where the company is: 1) materially growing its workforce; and 2) implementing a new payroll system.
Core Responsibilities:
- Processing the weekly payroll from start to completion
- Acting as the primary point of contact for employee queries
- Assisting with managing Gousto’s auto enrolment pension scheme, including processing employee changes and ensuring all contributions are transferred to the pension provider
- Reconciliation of the payroll to Dynamics and creation of third party payments
- Involvement with testing of a new payroll system, due to go live in June 2021. A key task here is to reconcile output between the two systems.
- Working with the People team to streamline current weekly payroll process
- Working with the Payroll Manager to implement ‘best in class’ practices and controls.
- Assistance with month and year-end payroll obligations
Your skills
- Qualified payroll professional or looking to become one (CIPP/AAT)
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation - in particular SSP, SMP, holiday pay, bonuses, redundancy pay, shift allowances.
- Ability to manually calculate payroll payments
- Strong Excel and system skills - vlookup, ‘if’ statements, data interrogation
- Excellent numerate and computer skills
- An understanding of what ‘best in class’ payroll processes should look like
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail while working to tight deadlines
- Honesty and discretion – you will be dealing with sensitive information
- Brilliant communicator both written and verbal
Requirements
Who you are:
- You are an energetic, curious and friendly professional who works well in a team and takes pride in seeing tasks through to completion.
- Key team member in the processing of a weekly payroll from start to finish, preferably in more than 1 company
- Being the lead contact on statutory and supporting obligations (E.g. HMRC filings, employee payroll queries, court orders)
- Administering a company’s auto-enrolment defined contribution pension scheme
- Working with a time and attendance system like Kronos
- Performing key payroll controls (e.g. reconciliations, journal creation)
- You can work independently and take pride in making a role your own
- You thrive in working in a fast paced environment
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Brightpay, Cornerstone and Staffology systems is beneficial although not essential
