About the role
We are currently seeking a Robotics Engineer to work on multiple features, including litter aeration, engaging the chickens to be more active and close-up sensing for health and welfare-related metrics. You will be working closely with our clients: chicken farmers in the UK and EU. You will have the opportunity to work directly on our hardware and rapid testing in commercial chicken sheds.
This role seats in the Tech Team, and you will report to the CTO.
We’re a small(ish) start-up with plenty of room for progression and making the role your own. Occasionally, and in line with your strengths and interests, you may be asked to work outside your job description.
What you will be doing:
Implementing features for multiple projects around sensing and interactions with chickens
Leading or contributing from design to testing
Integrating sensors and actuators
Developing software for navigation, communication and interaction
Some mechanical prototyping and coordinating work with our mechanical partners
We would love to meet you if have:
3 to 5 years of experience commercially developing robotics-based products
Experience using ROS
Experience with autonomous navigation hardware and technologies
Experience in controlling and interfacing with sensors and actuators
Programming experience with C++ and Python in Linux
Exposure to modelling and simulation design for 3d/robotic environments
Degree computer science, robotics or related field
What we consider a plus:
Using robotics for production optimisation
Knowledge of SLAM or V-SLAM or similar
Exposure to data science and machine learning
Rapid prototyping (3D printing)
