Head of Operations and Finance at Cou Cou Intimates

Cou Cou is a female founded, purpose-driven, impact brand, redefining and revolutionising daily underwear for the new generation of women by bridging the gap between our lingerie and underwear drawer. Our mission is to reclaim the narrative of our intimates and celebrate our embodied female experience, everyday. Through a multi-pack focused, omnichannel distribution strategy and value-based, community driven brand we aim to become the go-to option for premium, daily intimate essentials. 

Cou Cou's elevated, intimate essentials pave an entirely new category of women's underwear that dismantles the dichotomy between fast-fashion granny pants and stuffy, lace lingerie -- which, for too long, has implied that for women, comfort and beauty are mutually exclusive. Designed for every body, every day and sustainably made with 100% GOTS Organic Cotton.

We intend to be the go-to premium, sustainable daily underwear option for the new generation of women (the Glossier of daily underwear), through an unapologetically value-based & community driven brand, customer-centric development and a multi-pack focused, omni-channel distribution strategy.


Cou Cou is looking for a Operations and Finance Manager (with potential to develop to COO position) to join the executive team of our high-growth start-up aiming to redefine daily underwear for the new generation of women. We are looking for a business-minded individual to work directly alongside the CEO to provide the financial and strategic knowledge and execution  for Cou Cou to become “The Glossier of Daily Underwear”.

Preferably in London, but open to remote in LA or NY

Notice Period:

As a right-hand to the CEO you will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing business strategies, plans and procedures
  • Setting comprehensive goals for performance and growth
  • Establishing policies that promote company culture and vision
  • Overseeing daily operations of the company and the work of executives 
  • Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Write and submit reports to the CEO in all matters of importance
  • Assist CEO in fundraising ventures
  • Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.)
  • Manage relationships with partners/vendors
  • Ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the organisation by providing leadership in:
    • All financial matters, including budget development,planning reporting managing the accounts, payroll and financial reporting of project funded activities and grant giving programmes
    • All operational matters including: continuous improvement of operational management systems to ensure optimal and cost-effective management, managing structure and overall processes at the company, planning and reviewing logistics, HR, and overall service and contingency management
  • Running the business, like a business

  • Responsibility Breakdown by Function:

2.1. Operations Management:

  • Contribute to short & long-term organisational planning and strategy
  • Continuous improvement of operational management systems
  • Oversee the whole operations of the business and the day to day activities.
  • Fine tuning strategy for optimization of resources 
  • Structure and overall processes at the company
  • Planning and reviewing logistics, HR, and overall service
  • Contingency management
  • Execution of jobs/tasks (anything from creating policies to making sure HR are paying people on time)
  • Adhere to company, federal, state, and local business requirements, enforcing compliance and taking action when necessary

2.2 Financial Management, Planning & analysis

You will be responsible for all financial matters including… 

  • Leading budgeting and planning process with the CEO
  • The company's financial growth and creating financial processes and reporting requirements that can be used as we scale
  • Manage and oversee budgeting
  • Monitoring expenditures, costs, and P&L
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and reporting on the company's financial data and performance
  • Taking control of the startup's financial planning and risks associated with future goals
  • Projections, planning and reporting
  • Be responsible for Accounting policy and governance
  • Cash flow management and liquidity 
  • Lead of production of monthly and quarterly assessments and forecasts of financial performance against budget & cash flow, financial and operational goals
  • Develop long-range forecasts and maintain long-range financial plans
  • Develop, maintain and monitor all fundraising and accounting systems and procedures capturing all pledges, billings and receipts and for the recording of all revenue transactions, recommend and implement improvements to systems

4. Technical competencies 

  • Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
  • Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues
  • A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics
  • Be able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues
  • Excel and Xero 
  • Knowledge of VAT, tax and other compliance implications of non-profit status

5. Experience:

  • 1-3 years in a similar position 
  • Experience with advanced business planning and projections
  • A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics
