Objective: To deliver 5 fun and immersive hearing training games and support eargym’s app development team to deliver our MVP (1st paid product).
eargym is on a mission to improve the world’s hearing.
Hearing is the neglected sense, 1.5bn people are at risk from hearing loss and even mild hearing loss doubles your risk of dementia yet the only real solution is hearing aids, typically reluctantly worn by people in their 70s. The rise of headphone use with mobile phones and Zoom means the problem is getting younger.
eargym is the new way to care for your hearing, empowering anyone with a smartphone and headphones to take control of their hearing health. We are providing an innovative solution to tackle hearing loss before you need hearing aids - play with purpose - fun and immersive hearing training games that help your brain hear better even when your ears can’t - eargym is a software upgrade for your entire auditory system.
We have a beta product in the app stores and are in the process of closing our second funding round, looking to build a strong team to help monetise the business and help people improve their hearing health by playing fun training games with purpose.
What we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced games developer to lead our game development.
Someone motivated by our purpose and mission to improve hearing health and contribute to research that can help reduce dementia - someone keen to work in a startup environment and passionate about play with purpose - using gaming and technology to improve wellbeing and quality of life. Passion for health, gaming, audio, VR and technology essential. The role will be supported by co-founder and Chief Product Officer, lead app developer, product manager, CTO advisor and our expert advisory team. The role will also be supported by a games designer but the role will suit someone who wants to input into the actual mechanics and dynamics design as much as writing the code to deliver it.

Will have worked in a fast paced environment like a startup, agency or product development team. Comfortable concepting, scoping and prototyping as well as full game development. The role involves understanding the scientific research behind the concept of hearing training and translating that into an engaging game mechanic and easy to use interface.
