    We are currently looking for a Head of Tech & Engineering to join our expanding Tech & Engineering team.

    What we’re looking for


    The Head of Tech & Engineering is a new role within KETS and demonstrates our commitment to providing strong support and mentoring to our Tech & Engineering team. The main focus of the role will be to convert the strategic vision for the Tech and Engineering team into every day, operational steps designed to make that strategic vision a reality. 


    The Head of Tech & Engineering will be responsible for supporting and leading the Tech and Engineering team, facilitating the development of new products through various stages of their lifecycle, improving company policies and standards, with responsibility for ensuring that design requirements and timescales are met.


    You will play an integral part in our team and your main responsibilities will be to:  




    • Take responsibility for all people management and project management of a multidisciplinary Tech and Engineering team 




    • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with, and encourage collaborative working across: Tech and Engineering, Applications, Commercial and Operations, to ensure a holistic platform approach across the wider business 




    • Developing and implementing New Product Development (NPD) processes within the engineering team along with other business functions




    • Conduct regular 1:1s and set Goals for the team, ensuring that they are aligned to the KETS strategic goals and reflect individual personal development, monitoring performance and morale to swiftly and effectively manage any issues raised




    • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the CTO to understand and define requirements to cascade these to the Tech and Engineering team 




    • Work closely with the CTO to create process and lead improvement of Tech and Engineering related activities from design through to release and beyond, to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget




    • Provide support to and a point of escalation for the Tech and Engineering team when undertaking tasks 




    • Developing procedures and drive continuous improvements of process to ensure that quality standards are met and consistent




    • Create, monitor and optimise budgets across projects and products




    • Willingly support technical development as/when required in order to achieve deliverables




    • Contributing to recruitment activities




    The experience you’ll need 


    To be successful in this role you will need the following: 




    • Experience of successfully building, coaching and mentoring highly skilled multi-disciplinary engineering teams




    • Proven experience within a senior technical delivery/engineering/production role, ideally within one or more of the following: optical communications, photonics, electronics, software engineering




    • Extensive experience in R&D and Engineering, ideally bringing products through R+D to market




    • Experience of product development methods and enjoy working openly, collaboratively and as part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary team 




    • Strong project control and management experience (risks, issues, resourcing, reporting) and define timelines on key priorities and facilitate discussion relevant stakeholders on ongoing actions
