  • Reason podcasts is a Techstars backed startup disrupting the podcast industry.

Our mission is to be the best platform to create and listen to podcasts.

We have a beautiful social podcast player available on web, iOS, and Android. On Reason users can listen to podcasts and follow each other and talk about podcasts, recommend great episodes and make notes and timestamps about interesting things they enjoy

We are currently building out a podcast hosting platform for creators which eases the creation process, helps them build a community around their podcast and provides ways to monetise.

    Culture

The Reason team pride ourselves on our ambition and we are happy to take risks. We’re characterised by our energy and enthusiasm; we’d rather aim high and see what happens, than play it safe.

We’re passionate about changing the world of audio for the better and putting our members first – we believe change happens when more people get involved.

    The role

We are seeking an all rounder who is an organised and friendly individual to work closely with the CEO and manage the workload of running the business.

You will assist with managing his schedule and relationships with stakeholders (users, investors and the team). You will also ensure that projects are appropriately prioritised and completed.

This is a great opportunity to get you hands deep into the realities of launching a tech start-up. You will have insights into all areas of the business: product, investment, legals, accounts, marketing and hiring.

The CEO is passionate about coaching and educating those he works with to achieve their personal goals. He has mentored and invested in many entrepreneurs and 3 of his previous employees have started a business this year. This would be an ideal role for someone who wants to be a CEO or COO of their own startup one day.

(although if you want to stick around and help run a media empire that would be awesome)

You should probably know about the person you're working with. The CEO is an award winning entrepreneur and angel investor. He runs a growing podcast with 2.5mill downloads which helped inspire this business. Out of office he runs ultramarathons, climbs mountains, does stand up comedy and is into breakdance, singing and climate activism. He is an INTJ with dyslexia and an attention deficit disorder

    Day to day

You are expected to help manage the admin associated with running a business and ensure the important things get done on time.

    • Schedule and meeting management
    • Investor and stakeholder relations
    • Project reviews and prioritisation for hitting deadlines
    • Admin assistance on legals and accounts
    • Communications - crafting presentations and documenting information required for the team and other stakeholders
    • Screening and onboarding of new employees
    • Document organisation

Depending on the individual and their skillset and interests, they will be given reign to take ownership of projects in their own interest (marketing, product, customer love, investment).

    Character requirements:

    • Ambition - keen to make a mark on the world
    • Timeliness - never late, you take this very seriously
    • Excellent organisation - doesn't lose things and always finish what you start
    • Good grammar - often restrain yourself from telling people off
    • Patience - recognise the strengths and weaknesses in others and make allowances
    • Enjoys podcasts - this is a podcast business soooo....
    • A doer:
      • Ideally you have done at least one notable project (ran a podcast / blog / youtube or organised an adventure, led a society, worked on a charity project)

    Extra bonus points (not required):

    • Started a podcast before
    • Worked in a startup before
    • An eye for design
    • Enjoy writing

A degree is not needed - although we'd love to hear what you are interested in. Whether you studied a topic formally or just like geeking out, please tell us something you are passionate about.

The role is based in London and you will be expected to be in office at least 2 days a week (you are welcome to come more often!)
