About Tempo

We’re on a mission to make work an adventure and recruitment the most exciting thing companies do.

For our clients, each hire is the chance to find that next great person that will change their organisation – bringing fresh ideas and energy. For our candidates, each new role is the chance to develop professionally and personally, make new achievements, and meet new people. However, thanks to years of cumbersome, disengaging and expensive processes, recruitment has become something that both parties dread. Tempo is here to change that.

We launched in May 2017 and set about making this vision a reality. Our platform provides a different experience – we match people based on what really matters for modern work, bring roles and people to life using video, and enable varied ways for them to get to know each other before a match is confirmed. This has enabled hiring teams to be 2.5x more efficient and reduce average time to hire to just 4 days, all whilst delivering a brilliant candidate experience. This has resulted in more than 90,000 candidates being connected to 3,000 of the most exciting companies in the UK, including the likes of Monzo, Bulb, Starling Bank and Goodlord, to name a few.

The team has grown from 3 to 40 and we’ve attracted more than £8m of investment from high-calibre investors including The Adecco Group, Hambro Perks, Chris Bruce and Michael Whitfield (Thomson Online Benefits).

Role detail

We’re now looking for a Talent Executive to join our growing People function in a role focused on our Technology hiring, predominantly but also supporting across Non-Commercial business areas.

In this role you’ll make a huge impact on our business. As a company we’re all about our people, and showing how recruitment can be a really exciting enjoyable experience. You’ll be directly responsible for that for the areas you support. You’ll spend your time focusing on growth and hiring plans – looking at how we access the best talent, engage them on Tempo as an employer of choice and provide a brilliant experience throughout assessment and as they join the business.

The measure of your success here won’t be just “filling roles” but finding diverse talent who will transform the teams they join, and hopefully go on to have a really fulfilling career with us. You’ll work in close partnership with the teams to make this happen with a strong understanding of business requirements.

This role is hands-on, managing the process at every step, and would suit someone with some experience but more to learn in the world of Talent looking for responsibility and challenge.

You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute more broadly to the People function (working with a Talent Partner and our Chief People Officer) and take on projects that are of interest and support the needs of our growing business.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Taking engaging role briefings and communicating them to our target audience using the right selection of job boards / sourcing channels
  • Screening and shortlisting applicants
  • Pro-actively sourcing applicants where required to boost the pipeline and meet start date requirements
  • Managing a competitive, enjoyable end to end process
  • Providing an incredibly warm welcome and thoughtful onboarding plan to new joiners
  • Partnering with the business area on their needs, to update on progress, to ensure the approach taken for each roles is the right one for us all
  • Other ad hoc recruitment tasks and administration for example ensuring all feedback is saved in the system we use (Workable)

  • Recruitment experience – in a start-up or fast growth environment and definitely exposure to technology hiring (i.e. Full Stack Developers, Product)
  • An academic interest for recruitment, candidate experience, enabling business success through hiring – whether achieved through your studies or work experience
  • A curious mindset to understand all roles, business requirements, what life will be like, what makes someone brilliant – this will enable a really thorough delivery to both candidates and hiring managers
  • Solid ownership and organisational skills – you will be trusted and given responsibility, not micro-managed – for this to work you need to manage yourself well
  • Comfort in taking a pragmatic approach in a start-up environment where you need to make things happen and won’t always have all the answers
  • Eagerness to learn, take on feedback as you go, constantly improve your performance and our overall performance as a People team
  • A great authentic brand advocate for Tempo – our purpose, mission, values

  • 40 days holiday entitlement (including bank and public holidays) plus 4 wellness days a year
  • 24/7 unlimited counselling and digital GP for you and your family
  • Salary insurance for up to 2 years if you are sick/injured
  • Access to Mental Health First Aiders / to become one if you wish
