    We have a flexible approach to working so whilst we are based in Liverpool UK, and would of course love to hang out with you in person, we have no expectation for you to attend the office on a regular basis.  At this very early stage we do however ask that applicants to this role are based in the UK to facilitate any potential for face to face meet-ups as and when needed (CV19 restrictions permitting).  

    So, you just need to ensure you have a great home wifi connection and desk set-up and we’ll provide you with everything else you need to be successful in your role!

    About the role

    Ideally starting in early January 2022, the successful applicant will officially become Decently employee #1!

    This is a full-time role but we are open to discuss flexible working for the right person and providing the key objectives can be met.

    We are looking for someone with a strong background in design. We firmly believe that the UX of a product is one of the most important factors of its success. We want to build beautiful products that are easy to use and you should too.

    You will lead on all things UI and UX, including:

    • Conducting user research - both quantitative and qualitative - in order to present findings and recommendations for new or improved product features.
    • Creating user personas to drive product decisions, define user stories and help prioritise product development.

    • Defining and demonstrating user flows/wireframes/mock-ups to enable rapid prototyping of new product features that address user needs.

    • User testing of new features or concepts - comfortable using virtual and face-to-face methods to gain valuable feedback.

    • Create and own our product design system - including setting up desktop and responsive grids, primary, secondary, tertiary, warning, info, error colours etc, button sizes (small for mobile, medium and large for desktop), type styles (H1's, H2's, para 1, para 2, caption, button, footer text etc).

    • Contributing to evolution of broader Product Brand e.g. logo, brand kit, visual identity, font set, marketing collateral.

    • Interacting regularly with our Product Director and customers for anything from product discovery to usability testing.

    • Ultimately working closely with the rest of the product team as they come onboard.

    About you

    • You care deeply about users and want to build a product that makes a difference

    • You promote the discipline of UX and are passionate about building an ever-improving design process

    • You’re adaptable - comfortable solving problems and picking up new processes, tools and techniques

    • You can give and receive feedback and have a strong sense of ownership

    • You’re self-motivated and comfortable working on brand new products in a pre-Product Market Fit environment

    Your experience


    • At least 2 years professional experience in end-to-end UX design on a commercially available application

    • Excellent communicator who can simplify complexity to share your work with the whole team

    • Experience designing both for web and mobile

    • Proficiency with prototyping tools such as Figma/Sketch/Marvel

    • Experience with UX methodologies and tools - ideation, wireframing/prototyping, information architecture, interaction design

    • Some experience and interest in UI/Visual Design

    • Experience of consumer facing applications with multiple user types, ideally one or more from: platforms, marketplaces, social media

    • Experience testing prototypes and gathering feedback

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • A keen eye for detail and spotting “edge cases”

    • The ability to work well within a team and take on feedback

    Desirable but not essential

    • A basic level of understanding around Front-End development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and application environments - desktop, mobile, tablets

    • Any prior experience of working in an early start up and / or working on Health Tech products


    £30k - £40k per annum depending on skills and experience
