The Team:

You will be joining a team of platform engineers with a diverse set of skills to deliver a state of the art cloud-native solutions for our latest version of the Sorted Product offering. The team's mission is to promote DevOps culture, and Site Reliability Engineering principles to improve our developers' experiences as well as ensure the reliability of live services.

The key focus areas are:

  • Promote, lead, and enable efficient & high-throughput SaaS delivery capabilities.
  • Build and maintain, the observability platform for the SaaS solutions and provide service reliability.
  • Develop and maintain automation frameworks, tools, and services to improve developer experiences.
  • Promote and lead release engineering discipline to drive a reliable SDLC management process.


The Role:

As a member of a mission-critical team, you will be contributing to the best practices in technical service operations and improvements. A typical day includes the following activities:

  • Creating & maintaining, blueprints & automated pipelines for "Infrastructure as Code" deployments in Cloud.
  • Collaborate with software architects and the development community to promote the 'Cloud Native' agenda.
  • Participate in building and maintaining a state of the art developer experience platform in the cloud.
  • To participate in and support software development efforts following the agile manifesto.
  • Take a risk-based approach to service and process improvement.
  • Serve as part of the ‘think tank’ of technical operations and propose solutions to improve process efficiency.
  • Drive and promote a self-serve model where applicable.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies as part of own squad and other teams.
  • Drive and support performance engineering and testing activities.
  • System engineering/administration duties like backend support.
  • Occasionally participate in on-call activities.
  • Optimise processes and workflows to reduce on-call requirements (build self-service systems)
  • Documenting ‘tribal’ knowledge and streamlining the process
  • Participate/lead post-incident reviews and post-mortems

Requirements

We are looking for a number of Platform Engineers with different levels of experience.

Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of "Well-Architected Framework" on public cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services)
  • Solid understanding of, and agreement with DevOps Philosophies.
  • Good knowledge of "Site Reliability Engineering" principles
  • Good knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture
  • Familiarity with cloud-native application development best practices (i.e. twelve-factor app)

Experience:

  • Essentials:
    • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in any one of the following:
      • Platform Engineer
      • Cloud Solution Architecting
      • System Engineering/Administration
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code frameworks (i.e Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Experience with serverless application frameworks (i.e. AWS SAM, Serverless)
  • Experience in provisioning and maintaining CI/CD flows using GitHub/Azure Devops/Octopus Deploy
  • Good understanding of monitoring tools/platforms (i.e., DataDog/CloudWatch)
  • Good knowledge of configuration management (as code) using Ansible
  • Knowledge/experience of building/managing with Microservices
  • Experience of the responsibilities in an Agile/Scrum development methodology
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes operation/administration
  • Knowledge of REST API development
  • Good knowledge of the Linux ecosystem

Desirable:

  • Experience in developing and maintaining applications native to the public cloud
  • Use of object-oriented programming, scripting, and data query languages (i.e. Python/Golang/C#)
  • Experience in designing and writing live code
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
  • Certified Cloud Solutions Architect
  • Certified DevOps Engineer
