Ever wondered how skyscrapers like The Shard or The Gherkin get built? Disperse uses AI and computer vision to revolutionise the construction of iconic buildings around the world, such as the upcoming 22 Bishopsgate - soon to be the UK's second tallest building.

We're a creative, conscientious and proudly diverse community of AI researchers, software engineers, building architects and product designers dedicated to helping build the skylines of tomorrow.

What you'll be doing as Senior Product Manager at Disperse

  • Leading a cross-functional engineering team, with a specific target user or domain, and defining the team's short, medium and long term vision and roadmap.
  • For internal facing projects - embedding yourself and your team members within an internal Disperse team to understand our data capture/processing workflows and creating new software tools to enhance their productivity.
  • For customer facing projects - immersing yourself in our industry, building relationships directly with customers and collaborating closely with Disperse's sales and customer success teams to build and launch new Disperse products and features.
  • Running design thinking workshops, iterating on agile methodologies, organising user research studies, team on-sites, hack weeks or anything else you can think of to help your team get the context they need and deliver successfully.
  • Pitching your ideas and demoing to internal and external stakeholders.

How Disperse builds software

Disperse believes that the best software is built by small, cross-functional teams that adhere to the following principles:

  • Teams embed themselves in their user's world. If you're working on scanning software, you're organising trips to building sites for your team to scan a floor. If you're building software for senior construction executives, you know the org chart by heart and are an active participant in sales meetings. You know your users and their workflows intimately, because you've sat shoulder to shoulder with them and spent weeks trying to do their job yourself.
  • Teams have strong leadership. Typically this a product lead and technical lead, who together are given a high degree of autonomy in pursuing the team's objectives. The team's focus should always be on building software that makes their users effective, rather than executing on top-down mandates. We also encourage team leads to experiment with agile-like processes and find a way of working that suits them.
  • Teams have a high degree of internal trust and psychological safety. Sharing direct feedback is encouraged through regular feedback workshops and training.
  • Teams know they can fail safely. Transforming an industry is hard and we know that not every project will work out. We treat every failure as a learning opportunity, running retrospectives and root-cause analyses when things go wrong.
  • Team's have focus and continuity. It takes time for a team to gel and start performing, constant personnel changes can be disruptive. Focus is also crucial for teams to excel - we try protect teams from priorities that don't relate to the users they're working for.

Note that requirements are always flexible. If you believe you would be a strong fit for this role based on the description of responsibilities and tick at least a few of the boxes below, then we encourage to apply.

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Can structure and run decision making and exercise good judgement, even in technically-complex, dynamic and inherently uncertain environments.
  • Have experience leading and motivating a team and training others to make good decisions, as well as the ability to make good decisions yourself.
  • Are a strong communicator; capable of inspiring others, building great relationships, and expressing the rationale behind your ideas convincingly to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Are excited about the prospect of redefining how buildings are made, shifting the world's largest and least efficient industry into the digital age and delivering a suite of AI-enhanced analysis and building productivity tools.

What we value

  • Empathy, humility and a willingness to express vulnerability.
  • Grit; the perseverance and passion to pursue long-term goals and a high tolerance for adversity.
  • Those who seek feedback on their work and respond well to constructive feedback conversations.

Location & visa restrictions

  • If you need a Tier 2 visa, Disperse is happy to sponsor your application and we already have employees under this scheme.
  • Until 2022, remote working is the norm and we don't mind where you are located. We do have a very spacious office in central London and some employees who can do so safely choose to work there. Others have chosen to work from abroad for the remainder of the year, and that's fine too.
  • We expect you to eventually work at least part-time in our London office, since we believe that having a vibrant office culture is important (i.e. we don't accept long-term, fully-remote applicants).

Competitive salary and a generous equity package, along with a desk at our beautiful central London office. Our benefits also include a company laptop, flexible working hours, work-from-home policy, and AXA health insurance. We can also be extra-flexible if you have (or are planning to have) young children.
