about the role:
Here at nate, we are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to come and assist our growing engineering team. There is an increasing demand for support to help them deploy faster with a focus on reliability. As our user base continues to grow, there is an increasing demand to ensure our services are healthy and robust, with the data kept secure.
As a passionate DevOps Engineer you will be instrumental in helping to build a DevOps culture with the opportunity to instil best practices and introduce new technologies. It means collaborating with a team of motivated individuals who are as passionate about the future of commerce and artificial intelligence as we are! And it means being an equity-holder, a doer, a risk-taker, a leader and an example to others.
what you'll do:
- Work both collaboratively and independently to support our engineering teams to deploy and maintain services
- Improve the observability of our systems to support rapid iteration while maintaining stable services
- Improve our processes of deployment through to production with the development of the infrastructure code base
- Evangelize DevOps best practices and training the engineering team, with the ultimate goal of building a culture of DevOps
- Participate in rotating on-call duties and timely post-mortems of production incidents
about you:
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability and openness to mentor and guide team members
- Extensive experience of AWS cloud infrastructure
- Experience of Docker and Kubernetes for containerisation and container orchestration
- Experience in infrastructure as code, such as Terraform
- Proficient with CI / CD pipelines, such as CircleCI
- Experience with at least one scripting language
- Experience managing microservices for scaling, traffic management and deployment strategies
- Some SRE experience - improving the reliability of systems in production, fixing issues, responding to incidents
- A software development background is desirable with the ability to analyse and debug code (we currently use Typescript and Python but also exploring other languages such as Go)
