  • Role: Junior Content Manager (Remote, Manchester-based)

    Rate: up to £20,000 annual full-time based on experience and fit

    Time commitment: Our ideal is full-time although the confirmed candidate will start as part-time for at least a few weeks to assess fit.

    Location: Remote, and based in or near Manchester

    Start date: Dec 2022 or ASAP. We have an existing pilot in Manchester to increase our membership base.


    About MeatFreed

    We're building the first food community app that incentivises young people to choose plant-based. We're an early-stage UK-based startup backed by a leading early-stage UK investor who has supported media platforms and consumer-facing brands.


    About the job

    With our marketing team and our partners, you'll be responsible for identifying potential content that would resonate with our target members and align with our editorial policy. You will coordinate with the marketing team to create content that aligns with our marketing campaigns that builds membership for MeatFreed focused on our target members (current students in and around Manchester) and keeps them engaged through our mobile app.

    You'll work directly with the CEO/co-founder and the content team to create content. Together you'll brainstorm various opportunities and prioritise while you then take ownership to implement these opportunities through data-driven experiments and then optimise based on SEO or similar methods.

    For all campaigns, you will create content that would relate to our channels (website, email, mobile app, social media), mediums (from written to video), and partnerships (eg our restaurants and brand partners) to build membership and increase engagement. For example, content that you would create include copy for an email campaign, copy and graphics for a landing page, and video content on our mobile app.

    In this role, you are the voice of our members. You'll translate their needs, aspirations, and challenges into content that resonates with them. You will have direct impact on the entire member journey.

    What you'll achieve

    1. Content strategy: Develop content strategy aligned with short-term and long-term marketing targets across channels (mobile app, email, website, social media). Work with CEO/co-founder to devise ideas based on our persona hypotheses that create engaging ways to build membership and keep them engaged across all of our channels and our partners. Design content concepts that balance vision, craft, speed, and business potential in collaboration with marketing team.
    2. Content creation: Create and publish engaging content that are consistent with the brand guidelines while optimising based on SEO or similar data-driven methods. Use content management systems to analyze traffic and engagement metrics
    3. Content management: Craft every detail of your content concepts from idea to project plan to results analysis using tools like project management tools, content distribution tools, and analytics platforms. Develop an editorial calendar and ensure all content is aligned. Ensure compliance with law (e.g. copyright and data protection)
    4. Strategic marketing support: Partner with CEO/co-founder to define and evolve marketing roadmaps. Help to define and evolve our marketing system intentionally as we scale.
    5. Member research: You will be partnering with the CEO/co-founder to drive research with our members and keeping up-to-date with developments and generate new ideas to draw audience’s attention

    What we think you'll need

    • You have some experience creating engaging content for digital and in-person marketing campaigns.
    • 1 year of experience in analysing data for SEO optimisation or similar data-driven methods using tools like Google Analytics and Google Sheets/Excel
    • 1 year of experience in managing content through landing pages/websites using tools like WordPress
    • 1 year of managing marketing campaigns through tools like email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp and Customer relationship management (CRM) platforms like Hubspot
    • 1 year of content creation (any type of content from written to video) that clearly portray your vision 
    • 1 year of social media management across common platforms used by our target members
    • 1 year of Search engine optimisation (SEO) with the experience of how best to utilise SEO across channel and through copy and content
    • You have some experience in a listen-first communication style with customers to research problems and test your content.
    • Comfortable working autonomously through ambiguity, taking ownership of identifying problems and creating solutions.
    • You like to tell stories using both words and visuals, and strategise the best way to make your point.

    Nice to haves

    • You've created engaging content that supports marketing campaigns with small teams, ideally by coordinating directly with a startup founder or Marketing Executive in the past.
    • Have worked on task management tools before like: Trello, Asana.
    • Experience working for a B2B or B2C media or community-led organisation with a mature marketing practice.

    Your experience should ideally focus on designing creative and engaging campaigns, and your portfolio or experience should clearly outline the problems you’ve solved and demonstrate the process you applied to find solutions and overcome challenges, rather than focusing just on visual polish, or the final deliverables.
