Role

Untap is looking for an Electronics Engineer to lead the development of electronics systems for our automated, mechatronic remote water quality monitoring system. This includes translating breadboard/Arduino shield designs into PCBs, integrating IoT connectivity and data processing on the cloud, and low-light detection optical systems. You will work alongside our mechatronics department to further develop our hardware-software environmental monitoring product.

Responsibilities

• Leading the electronics development of Untap products
• Breadboard prototyping, Arduino shields, PCB design
• Embedded firmware
• Process automation, e.g. sensor-actuator feedback control systems
• Integration of remote data communications (IoT and cloud data processing)
• Electronics development leading to testing and certification
• Documentation of design, development, and the Bill of Materials
• Collaborating with mechatronics engineers, our chemists, and our collaborators

The ideal candidate

• Rapid prototyping experience and a hack-mentality
• Experience bringing products to market
• Evidence-based portfolio of independently leading electronics projects
• PCB design
• Embedded firmware and microcontrollers
• Successful IoT projects demonstrated
• Integration of electronics with mechanical systems (e.g. evidence of process automation)
• Evidence of being a self-starter, and responding flexibly to unexpected challenges

Desirable but not essential

• Experience working with small but growing start-up teams
• Experience working with fluids
• Experience with optical systems (especially low-light detection)
• Field work experience or similar
• UK driver’s license
