We’re looking for an Associate Creative Director with a systems-focused design approach to help evolve Zapier’s brand. You have a background in leading the creation of several brand’s visual identity system in a cohesive and unifed manner across all surface areas. You are an inspirational, innovative, and seasoned creative & design brand leader. You will push Zapier’s brand identity system to reach its full creative potential, discovering new, innovative ways to connect with our audience, using creativity to solve business problems.

We are looking for an expert team leader, who is adept at leading creatives and has mastered the ability to work closely with art directors, writers, strategists, producers, and designers. You have the ability to both understand and participate in strategic conversations and lead others through the creative conception, development, and execution process. You have experience working at scale and leading complex work streams independently. You’re outstanding at crafting the detail from conception to delivery. You're consistently able to connect the dots in culture to find the common ground between a brand and its audiences.

This position is a leadership role within the talented Brand Studio. You’ll report to our Head of Creative, and work with Brand Designers, Interactive Designers, Motion Designers, Writers, Strategists, and Program managers to imagine and produce brand experiences across all channels.

• 8+ years of experience in creative direction, art direction and design, remote team management experience is a plus—but not a must.

• You have a history of providing oversight to creative teams, establishing processes, and driving cross-functional projects. You communicate—and operate—with humor and empathy.

• Your design process is strategically focused. You write amazing creative briefs that are clear, simple, and most of all set the team up for truly high quality and impactful work.

• You have a knack for realizing a creative vision as a manager, creator and mentor, ranging from large-scale initiatives to channel-specific executions.

• As an empathetic, fast learner, you navigate the needs of partners across the business and balance driving business impact with executing on amazing creative.

• You enjoy strategic vision and direction setting, but at heart, you’re a creative problem-solver and mentor.

• Innovative storytelling across multiple categories with the ability to see a story where others don't.

• Proven knowledge of today's digital and social channels and new technologies.

• Deep understanding of the intricacies of brand and creative disciplines and you can articulate your opinions and work with others to bring your vision to life.

• Navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment; be a self-starter and proactive; kind, curious, and creative.

• A proven track record of maximizing impact for yourself, your team, and your organization as a whole.

• Manage a small team of brand designers who will push Zapier’s brand experience for our customers and potential customers, driving business impact and elevating creativity as a growth lever

• Be an active leader in our team and company culture

• Help drive the visual direction and creative strategy and thoughtfully integrate the expression of our brand

• Bring bold thinking and creative ideas to advance our brand and reputation, and nurture this thinking within the team

• Oversee the design of brand experiences across a variety of brand marketing surface areas.

• Collaborate with brand strategy team on writing creative briefs

• Champion systems-focused foundational design guidelines and raise the bar for our brand

• Be a champion for the brand and how its consistently applied

• Manage and refine the work coming in from agencies, external teams, and contractors.

• Write design roadmaps to help the company understand the vision of the brand and how to get there

• Collaborate with design leadership to evolve our processes to ensure we’re creating a consistent, unique, and inspiring brand experience

• Set the stage for effective brainstorming sessions, interactive workshops and constructive design critiques

The pay ranges for this role are:

US: 202,500 - 303,800 USD

Canada: 202,500 - 303,800 CAD

*A Candidate's compensation package is finalized once the interview process is concluded and accounts for experience, competencies (job knowledge, skills and abilities) and internal equity.
