Product Development & Retail Assistant
Initial 25hr/week contract
About us:
Meander is a Scottish outdoor clothing brand that genuinely cares about the world we live in. We work with premium performance fabrics to create minimalist style, functional garments, designed to work if you are on the office commute, climbing a mountain or drinking espressos in the city.
As outdoor lovers we are naturally passionate about the environment and sustainability is the forefront of our brand values, we work with only European factories, we’re Carbon Neutral and we’ve partnered with 1% for the planet (donating 1% of our sales to environmental charities) and are on our way to becoming B-Corp certified.
We launched our first collection online in October 2019 and are a DTC brand with a flagship store and HQ in Edinburgh and a store in Covent Garden, London. We were selected by the judges at ISPO Brandnew as one of the top 50 newcomers in 2020 and have plans to grow the brand rapidly.
We’re at the beginning of an exciting journey and looking for a passionate, hands-on team member who is excited to join us at the early stages and help to grow the London community from the ground up at our Edinburgh HQ.
About the Role:
We are looking for a fashion/clothing graduate who is passionate about the environment.
As a small start-up brand, it’s important that everyone gets involved in different parts of the business, so while this is a hybrid role combining some time on the shop floor, it’s also a great opportunity to work with the founders and product development manager on multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting on the development process, working with PD manager on prototypes development.
- Creating tech packs and keeping record of all garment specifications and fit comments.
- Ordering fabrics and trims and keeping track of delivery dates.
- Collection and analysis of data to help calculate our carbon footprint across all aspects of the business.
- Managing the Materials tracking process and shipping
- Research Sustainable packaging for both ecommerce and manufacture
- Acting as a brand ambassador, telling the brand story and sharing our sustainable values to our customers, selling the range and promoting the brand during events as well as general housekeeping duties.
About you:
As a small startup with big ambitions, we’re looking for team players that will bring passion and enthusiasm, who will roll their sleeves up and get involved in various aspects of building the brand and running a small business. In addition, it is important that you share our love of the outdoors and sustainable brand values.
Role Requirements:
- A degree in a relevant discipline (clothing design/manufacture or related subjects would be an advantage, minimum grade 2:1)
- Ambition to develop skills in clothing industry in product development.
- A good work ethic and team skills and an ability to manage time effectively.
- Experience using Adobe Suite (Illustrator, In Design, Photoshop)
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Ability to interpret and analyse data.
- Strong numeracy skills and be a good problem solver.
- Great organisational skills and be efficient and process driven.
- Ability to be flexible and work to deadlines.
