Mane Hook-Up is revolutionising the afro hair industry by making it easy to find and book appointments with local afro hairstylists. We know that afro hairstylists and their customers are underserved, so we aim to cater to both in equal measure. Our online booking platform gives hairstylists an opportunity to acquire new clients digitally, and customers finally have a way to find quality afro hairstylists beyond word of mouth. Ultimately, we’re here to support people on both sides of the chair and diversify the hair and beauty industry. Afro hair should be celebrated and, we’re here to make sure that happens on a global scale.

The Role

We are looking for someone who wants first hand marketing and operations experience. You’ll be our Founder's right-hand person by working on building our brand presence and acquiring more stylists. 

This is an internship that would require about 10 hours (1.5 days) of work a week. We want to provide you with the experience that you need to take the next step in your career. So, this is a great opportunity for anyone who has recently graduated who wants some additional experience right now.

You will…

• Create and schedule all of the social media content for Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook (heavy focus on Instagram as that is where the majority of our social engagement comes from)

• Communicate with industry professionals and influencers via social media to create a strong network

• Work on the community management for our social audience and become the face of the Mane Hook-Up community

• Create email automations for stylist outreach and support our Founder in running demos. 

• Build profiles for stylists that have registered to use the platform.

• Do competitor research and stay on top of the changes in the black hair industry

• Inbox management – responding when necessary to customer requests.
• Acting as backup by mutually supporting the other team members.

What we need to see...

• 📚 willingness to learn - we don't care how much experience you have. But we do want to see that you're passionate and want to have an impact.

• 📣an interest in learning about marketing - you'll have a chance to dabble in some of that work as well.Good time-management skills

• 😆 a sense of humor - we don't take ourselves too seriously. But we do work hard

• 💭critical thinker, problem-solving skills and great interpersonal skills

• 🏃🏾‍♀️ you're a fast learner who likes to try new things and see how they work.

The interview process

2. If you are successful at this stage, we'll arrange an initial video call with our Founder and an Advisor who introduce Mane Hook-Up and get to know a little bit more about you (30-45 minutes)
