As Head of Digital (Maternity Cover), you will be responsible for heading up the digital and CRM team, aiming to drive the high performing team forward in a fast-paced environment to hit channel KPIs, alongside supporting the transformation of the website into a go-to learning destination. This role reports into the Marketing Director and works closely with all in-house departments, as well as being responsible for overseeing various external agencies.

The successful candidate will have a strong all-round performance-driven background, with experience across SEO, CRM, Paid Search, Social Media and Affiliates. We’re looking for a candidate who has a can-do, proactive and driven attitude who can dig into analysis projects stemming across ecommerce and lead generation, to uncover growth opportunities and confidently lead strategy and roadmaps with clarity. The candidate would ideally have prior experience of working within the education sector or on a large marketplace.

What does success look like?

Digital strategy and analysis

    • Develop, implement and manage robust and prioritised digital strategies that tap into growth opportunities, uncover underperforming areas and that ladder into key KPIs to maintain focus on activities that will drive significant business impact.
    • Undertake data analysis projects to identify these opportunities and trends, working with different stakeholders to ensure all data is pulled accurately to inform decisions.
    • Lead testing roadmaps and initiatives to gain quick learnings and implement key changes off the back of these insights gained, with the ability to react and adapt to any changes to business strategy as required.
    • Present key learnings and results to stakeholders, showcasing next prioritised steps required to keep projects moving. Report on the effectiveness of marketing activities and strategies. Be adaptable to blockers as they may arise and come up with data-backed solutions to progress.

    Specialisms in organic digital channels

      • Oversee the management of web development projects and prioritisation, with a focus on ensuring implementation is following SEO best-practice.
      • Have a strong understanding of onsite, offsite and technical SEO, to support in delivering organic growth across our key product portfolios and categories.
      • Confident in creating CRM strategies and workflows that tap into customer action to deliver results. Mindful of GDPR restrictions to ensure compliance.
      • Proactive in informing merchandising decisions, based on data and KPI requirements. Ability to recommend different content, CTAs and other components to improve page engagement metrics.

      Team & agency management

        • Manage a team of high performing individuals, supporting on channel strategies and priority decisions. You’ll be willing to get stuck in to help as required to get the job done as a team.
        • Hold weekly 1:1s and performance reviews to ensure the team are on-track with both channel and personal objectives. Ensure you’re fostering a positive working environment for the team, with good communication on wider projects or business need-to-know as matters arise.
        • Excellent communication with the Marketing Director, supporting wider projects as required where there’s business need.
        • Manage several external agencies, ensuring roadmaps are defined and that we’re optimising our use with these selected partners efficiently.
        • Ability to craft SOWs for new projects and manage budgets efficiently, to keep track of third-party and media fees with accuracy.
        What you'll bring to the table
        • Degree in marketing, business or a related field.
        • 5+ years in a senior digital role with ecommerce and lead generation experience, ideally in the education sector or on a large marketplace.
        • Experience and expertise across all digital marketing channels, with a particular specialism in organic channels.
        • A confident, resourceful and creative individual who can operate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with competing demands as they arise.
        • Proven experience leading a team and managing multiple direct reports, alongside several external agencies and internal stakeholders.
        • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing digital strategies that drive growth, backed with data insights, clear metrics of success and with the ability to prove impact gained.
        • Strong communication, presentation and data analysis skills, alongside proficiency in using a range of marketing tools such as Looker, GA4, Clarity, SEMrush and CRM platforms.
        • Has managed marketing budgets previously, with accuracy of tracking third-party costs and media fees.
        • A firm knowledge of good processes for collaboration between teams and the wider organisation.
        • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
