    About My Emissions

My Emissions is a pioneering climate-tech start-up in the UK, dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of food.

The company was founded by two friends, Matt and Nathan during the covid-19 pandemic. They quickly realised food offers one of the best ways to reduce our impact on the planet (it creates at least 33% of all global greenhouse gas emissions), and the key to making an impact was engaging food companies. My Emissions offers a comprehensive platform for food companies to calculate, reduce and label their environmental impact of their food. We work with some of the most innovative companies in the world, including Just Eat, THIS, Selfridges and more.

Having recently raised a £1.3 million seed round, we are growing our team (currently 11 people) over the next 12 months as we move towards our series A.

    About the role

As a member of our tech team you will primarily work alongside a frontend-focused developer and our Head of Software, as well as collaborating with our data engineer. Everyone in the team is comfortable working on the backend, so you will have plenty of support but also plenty of room for ownership.

    Specifically, this role will involve:

    1. Focusing on our main Python backend, built with Django. Building a robust API, utilising Django Rest Framework, for both our platform and external use.
    2. Contributing to other smaller backend services, also in Python.
    3. Implementing API integrations to incorporate our assessments into a variety of partner platforms, such as restaurant management systems
    4. Building out AI pipelines with third-party LLMs as well as our own internal ML tech
    5. Working with our AWS infrastructure, helping to build a secure and scalable platform

Our frontend is built with React and there’s also some scope to be involved with that if that was something of interest to you.

    What we are looking for

    1. A minimum of 2 years of backend experience, preferably with Python
    2. Familiarity with Django or a similar web framework
    3. Comfortable working with SQL databases
    4. Experience with B2B SAAS products or data-centric applications is a plus

    1. Work for a purpose-driven company that is reducing global emissions. My Emissions is listed by Impact 50 as one of the 50 most meaningful companies to work for.
    2. Flexible working. Our team works on a hybrid model, splitting time between our homes and our Central London office. For the right person, we’re also open to fully remote working.
    3. Holiday purchase scheme, offering the ability to increase holiday allowance up to 36 days holiday each year.
    4. Become a shareholder via our EMI Options Scheme.
    5. An engaged and supportive team environment, with monthly socials and team events.
