Community Builder/Growth Hacker Co-Founder

at [undisclosed] in Edinburgh

We’re a startup based in central Edinburgh working on an innovative and exciting online community for travellers, explorers and adventures. We’re aiming to hit a sweet spot between travel sites like LonelyPlanet and communities like StackExchange or Wikipedia. Essentially, we’re creating an open, user driven and feature rich travel community that could blow the likes of TripAdvisor out of the water.

Our highly driven technical founders are looking for a growth hacker to join as a co-founder and key member of our early stage startup. We’re looking for someone who is fundamentally excited about what we’re doing: creating an amazing, user centric online travel community. You’ll be part sales person, part marketeer and part community builder. An entrepreneurial spirit is a must as you’ll be joining lean, unfunded and bootstrapped startup. You will be self-supporting or part-time to start with.

The shape of the position depends on who you are and where your skills are. We’re more concerned with finding the right person than someone who meets a checklist of criteria. That said, there are some core responsibilities:

  • Driving sales of products for tourism businesses
  • Building the community and user base through marketing, engagement and any means necessary!
  • Collect, organising and presenting user feedback as the user advocate for our product development

This is a very hands on role where you’ll be exposed to all aspects of the business. You’ll be ready to get stuck in with sales, marketing and strategy but you’ll also be thinking about building a team around these key areas.

The amount of equity on offer is negotiable and depends on the value you’ll be bringing the team. Other perks include city centre office space, flexible working hours and an ambitious and fun team to work with. The real benefit of joining as a key member of an early stage startup is the the opportunity to become part-owner of an exciting, high growth potential business.
