The Local Courier is looking for a Community Operations Intern to support the Operations team help manage its rider dispatch, customer services and courier support.

Community Operations Managers are all about the The Local Courier experience. Ensuring jobs are matched to the most suitable courier in a timely and professional manner is at the heart of TLC.

We do everything in our power to make The Local Courier unlike any other delivery company out there and through excellent support, we take dissatisfied customers and turn them into our strongest evangelists.

We also empower the livelihoods of the couriers we work with. We always make sure that we take care of any questions or issues that couriers may have so they can get out on the road and make deliveries riders around London.


Reliable. Because you have great organisational skills, you’re able to follow-through on each and every task. Providing a consistent level of service that is efficient and effective ensuring our customers and couriers receive a great service time and time again.

Passionate about growing service culture within our community. You’re excited about the opportunity to create and optimise support processes, and you are willing to work with the rest of the team to executing the best support strategy you can.

Analytical and creative. You recognise that out of all the interactions we have with our community, both couriers and customers, you can identify the trends and themes such that we can change the way we do business for the better. You will take all the data and use this to drive strategy that will give the highest standard of support you can.

A utility player, cool and calm under pressure. Dealing with new and different challenges excites you, and you have a way to anticipate challenges to come. Whether it be in answering tickets or looking at new product features, you jump at any of these opportunities.

You like finding resolutions early, using all resources available, and you like to be ahead of everyone else when it comes to having the best product or best service in the market. You enjoy testing different support strategies and tracking the results. You always consider the larger picture, while never losing sight of the details.

Word savvy and graceful. Being in the business of support, you’re eloquent and able to strike the perfect tone, whether you’re responding to tickets or explaining a new policy to couriers on our blog or in a meeting.


Courier sign up - As the TLC platform grows as does the community of couriers we work with. You will help manage our inbound courier requests and ensuring couriers move swiftly through our sign up process.

Community management - You will work closely with the rest of operations team, and be responsible for driver communication on a daily basis.

Rider dispatch - Key responsibilities include booking management, driver distribution and identifying and solving any arising problems.

Customer support - You need to be the most passionate advocate for all customers and couriers. You should also be able to answer any questions that come your way and anticipate any more issues that may come up.

Reporting and back office - You will dig into data incessantly to drive strategy and work to improve internal tools and overall user experience.

Analyse, innovate and execute - You will create, design, and lead how we deliver support in London; get creative and then be able to execute on your ideas.


This is a 3 month paid internship supporting the TLC Community Operations Manager with the view of joining the team full-time. Ideal candidates would have a good degree form a top university.
