Plumen is an award-winning brand with big ambitions to change the sustainable lighting industry. We inspire people to save energy by creating the world’s most beautiful, efficient light bulbs.

We’ve recently launched a whole range of designer LED products and are developing incredible Smart lighting technology to change our relationship with light and how we consume energy.

We’re looking for someone passionate, energetic and keen to learn to join our digital marketing team and help us tell the online world about what we do.

The Details
2 to 3 month internship
Flexible hours – can be full-time or part-time (minimum 20 hours a week)
Based in E1, London (5 minutes from Liverpool Street Station and Shoreditch High Street Overground)
Travel and lunch expenses paid only

What you will do
You will learn about how a digital marketing team works and what it’s like to be part of an innovative start-up.

Plumen is seeking an intern to assist with the worldwide launch of our latest low energy light bulbs. This role is a fantastic introduction into how to work in a marketing team, delivering content to assist with the launch of three new and exciting products. This internship would be for two to three months and you will report directly into the marketing team.

We are a ground-breaking designer light bulb company that puts innovation at the heart of everything we do and we have ambitions to grow into a worldwide lighting brand.

Plumen is a young, dynamic and award–winning company that has grown quickly since its launch in September 2010. Our offices are based in E1 and we currently employ 10 people.

This is a great opportunity for a talented and driven individual who wants to experience life in a start-up and get a taste for a career in digital marketing or the design industry.

The internship can be full-time or part-time – typically, it would involve at least a 20-hour week commitment. Part-time students must be able to work to a consistent schedule.

The role is unpaid but travel and lunch expenses will be covered. You’ll learn a lot, working in a fast-paced environment, launching products that you’re excited about.

Write content for social media, blog, newsletter
Help plan and deliver partnerships and collaborations
Manage day-to-day PR activities

Social Media
Research news stories
Respond to comments / requests / support issues / posts
Find interesting companies to follow / associate with
Manage permissions for image posting on Facebook
Run competitions, arranging the selection of prizes and their delivery

Respond to requests for information, images and links
Press database: record and archive contacts
Arrange for the delivery and return of product samples and manage follow up communication
Keep track of features and archive press cuttings
Blogger outreach

Manage photography database
Ad-hoc image design and management of social media, newsletter, e-commerce site and press

How to construct a marketing campaign through photography and video content, positioning and customer interaction.
How to target and engage the international media, from the blogosphere to the print press.
How to develop a brand identity and utilise it to improve sales performance. This will include evaluating and improving the effectiveness of our social media presence
The opportunity to provide input and suggest other areas that the company could develop.
Experience of retail and online sales channels
Photoshop & InDesign

Very good written English
A regular user of social media with an interest and knowledge of different platforms
An active interest in digital marketing
Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Excel
Good interpersonal skills
Excellent communicator
An analytical, organised self-starter
Someone who is happy to try their hand at anything.
Photoshop & InDesign skills are a bonus
