We are currently looking for an experienced and driven Head of Translational Science. This role will be part of the Senior Team and will work directly with our Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Technology Officer. The successful candidate will apply and improve Healx’s drug-matching technologies to help accelerate effective translation of rare disease therapies into pivotal clinical trials. Projects will involve working closely with patient advocacy groups.

The candidate will thrive in a fast-growing startup environment and will want to play a significant role in growing the business. Contributions to the strategic vision and development will be required. A passionate, hands-on and can-do attitude is crucial.

Job role
● Establish, foster and deliver effective drug-matching projects for patient communities.
● Develop ‘personalised translational roadmaps’ for rare disease groups.
● Understand and communicate the clinical significance of drug disease matching technologies to Healx stakeholders.
● Develop Healx’s portfolio resulting from collaborations and technology development.
● Project management, development of research proposals and client reports.
● Clinical and scientific understanding of disease areas.
● Develop and maintain collaborations with key opinion leaders in academia, industry and patient groups.
● Support strategic vision and contribute to business development.
● Assistance with academic publications, grant writing and submissions.
● Close engagement and communication with patient advocacy groups.

● University Degree (with at least a 2:1) and postgraduate degree from a top university in Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology or related discipline.
● Minimum 5 years working experience in a translational role and clinical environment with successful translational track-record.
● Experience in working with human disease and clinical data.
● Exceptional writing and oral communication skills. Peer-reviewed publication track-record.
● Significant experience with working in multi-disciplinary teams and outsourced translational research models.
● Full, clean, UK driver’s licence.

● Experience in working with genomic technologies and omic data sets.
● Knowledge of bioinformatics for drug-matching and biomarker identification.
● Experience in drug discovery and drug repurposing.
● Demonstration of a significant contribution to the development of a clinically relevant agent, for example a diagnostic marker or therapeutic compound.
● Experience with patient engagement.
