Fashion Blocks (working name)

A lot has been made about man's distaste of high street shopping, but is the experience of shopping for clothes online any better or less stressful for today's modern man?

Men's online clothing sales have seen exponential growth over the past 12-18 months driven by an overall lifestyle trend of men showing increasing concern over their appearance and taking more control over their personal style. The menswear market is now thought to be worth $402billion per annum (£13.5bn UK) with average global growth 4.5% compared to 3.7% in womenswear and 4% in activewear. Between 2010 and 2015 there was a 17.4% growth in menswear online, outpacing all other categories, and this trend is expected to continue with predictions of annual average growth in online sales of 14.2% between 2015 and 2020.

Many traditional online clothing retailers are now taking more notice of the menswear market and using it to drive new revenues.

For the customer, however, the experience of shopping for menswear online can be both overwhelming and underwhelming all at the same time. Many men do not enjoy the process of shopping online and our online shopping experience is often quite heavily skewed in favor of the women's fashion sector, with the shopping habits and styles of women much more prevalent.

This has lead to the birth and growth of subscription box services, but these businesses only go part of the way to solving the real problem. They offer style advice and a way to shop which is different and gives the buyer more confidence. However, these sites fail to cater for individuality and personal style preferences. It could also be argued that the flexibility is taken away from customers who wish to shop on their terms whenever they want.

Fashion Blocks helps men dress effortlessly by combining consumer data and sophisticated machine learning algorithms to offer a fun, trusted and personalized online shopping experience.

Simplicity will be at the core of our experience. We are creating an environment where new online shoppers can feel confident.

The CTO will provide technical expertise and lead the development of digital products in line with the company's strategy and objectives.

In the short-term, the CTO will be responsible for the planning and execution of proof of concept applications for web, iOS and/or Android. These POC’s will include our toolsets which will curate the experience for the shopper and those tools will form a valuable part of our IP.

There will also be an immediate focus on the implementation of Machine Learning algorithms and data-based platform improvements predominantly. Other products are planned here but can be discussed in length offline.
