The role:

In this role you will drive the growth and adoption of the Prolific platform, and you will
be Prolific’s chief representative in the research community. You’ll make decisions
about how to best grow the platform in a balanced, sustainable way that matches the
goals of the company. At a practical level, this may involve a range of data-driven
techniques, channels, and partners.

You’ll be responsible for Prolific’s brand and public profile. This primarily involves our
online presence (our website and media presence) as well as participating in the online
research community. It also involves getting out in the world, seeking out the right
opportunities for Prolific to grow and scale, and aligning Prolific with relevant

You’ll also have management responsibility for the support of our customers (though
this responsibility is shared with the rest of the team). You’ll be a key representative of
the customer voice when we plan the product roadmap and decide on company

influence over the trajectory of the product and company. Since it’s a startup, you’ll
have the opportunity to suggest how you can best add value, and make any
recommendations about how to improve our processes and the product. We're a fast-

• Spearhead the growth & adoption of Prolific, evangelising our product
• Represent Prolific in the research community, seek out and find the right
partners and organisations to align ourselves with
•Develop and own Prolific’s marketing plan with input from the Management
team; set marketing goals that can be tracked & measured
•Build and manage the company’s public profile, including social media, SEO, PR,
and any channels that may be relevant
•Make decisions about how to grow the platform in a balanced, sustainable way
•Feed into product roadmap and strategic growth plan for the company
•Manage the Customer Support team (for Participants and Researchers) Requirements
• Experience in or knowledge of the research sector (ideally academia, market
research, polling, and/or data science)
• Patience and a willingness to understand the underlying system so you know
what questions to ask and which goals to set
• Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data
and intuition to inform decisions
• Positive and proactive attitude; you’re confident, but want to be challenged
• You’re a great perspective taker and have excellent interpersonal skills
• You’re excited about becoming part of an early-stage & fast-moving startup
• You have a desire to grow a startup company and make a real impact in the
world of research


• You can get excited about the prospect of growing into a leadership role, for
example Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)
• Knowledge of startup marketing techniques
• General startup experience (e.g., founded a startup yourself or worked in one)
• You’ve read our blog ( so you know what
kind of company we are, how we think, what we value
• You have relevant or complementary technical skills (e.g., comfortable running
queries on a database, knowledge of programming languages such as Python,
knowledge of Git/Github, experience in SEO)

• Salary: £40,000-50,000, negotiable based on experience and qualifications,
• Share options (between 0-1%)
• Pension (employer contribution 1% of base salary; rising to 3% from 04/2018)
