Part time designer
at Planes in London
(₤20000 - ₤22000 per year)
Planes is a young digital product studio, started by two friends who liked making great products together. Taking our various experiences building and growing startups we have built a studio that is helping all sorts of people, from international fin-tech providers, launch new apps to companies building their MVPs. A nimble team, we work collaboratively to produce work that we are proud of and our clients love.
Alongside our commercial work, we also work with entrepreneurs with an idea. Our internal goal is to build one new product a month with others, giving them the launchpad to start their own businesses while ensuring we are constantly evolving and creating.
We are looking for someone to join us on a part-time basis initially to take over the design element of our projects. You will work with us throughout the product lifecycle from initial sketches and design workshops through to prototyping and delivery. Working closely with both clients and developers you will help turn ideas into beautiful products. Largely responsible for the UI, you will develop concepts, research trends and design interfaces that users will love. You will also be heavily involved in the UX, user feedback and iteration of products as they go to market.
The position will suit someone who is studying or looking for about 1-2 days of work a week (paid pro-rata). We are massive promoters of flexible working and will fit this around your study or other schedules. Ideally, we would all be co-located when we are working for a majority of the time but we do not stick to a strict 9-5. As we grow we would look to turn this into a more full-time role too.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone who has a strong passion for design and making beautiful things. Not necessarily a product design background, graphic design/illustration/print training is perfect for us. You may have experience working with Sketch and Invision (or similar) although that’s all teachable in the role. You will have an eye for detail and pride in your work. Everything else you can learn.
How to join
To apply we would just like to see a portfolio of your work (links to Dribbble/Behance etc are fine if you have them) and a short paragraph about who you are and what you are up to.
