The primary purpose of this position is to lead the FDA regulatory approval process for Cambridge Glycoscience’s core plant-based low sugar ingredients. The successful candidates will be responsible for: developing high quality food product recipes/formulations using our ingredients, identifying the core applications and principles which best enable their application, defining intellectual property around those applications, interacting with food industry scientists, and leading the development of future product ranges. This work is Initially focused on low-sugar formulations in bakery but will later expand into other food categories.

The successful candidate will have a background in food product development, especially in bakery-related products. They will have the proven ability to contribute intellectually to the development of product formulations. They must be able to think on their feet to solve technical problems as they arise, and so must have a good fundamental understanding of the food science underlying the work that they do. They must be ambitious and hard-working.

Candidates should have:
● strong product development/food science fundamentals, probably with a bachelor’s degree in a food science-related field and experience in industry. Postgraduate education in a relevant discipline, particularly research-based, is preferred but by no means necessary.
● experience in product/menu development for food companies, consultancies or restaurants.
● excellent project management skills with demonstrable evidence of successfully managing multiple projects.
● a professional and competent approach to work, with strong attention to detail.
● excellent communication: both written and oral; evidence of technical writing and presentation skills heavily desirable.
● excellent team skills and temperament.
● passionate/energetic about disruptive technology and making a difference.
● strong work ethic - prepared to put in extra hours when then are really needed.
