About us and our projects Shoreditch Tech Ventures is a boutique technology firm that partners with businesses in real-estate & hospitality, We are currently focussed on two revenue generating product streams that work with Python/Django, data-science and have real-estate and trading applications.
BNBHelper: BNBHelper is a suite of tools to help different players in the short-term holiday rental market and the co-living segment streamline their business. Our projects use Internet of things, AI, machine learning, beautiful React front-ends, data scraping and analysis and dealing with large volumes of data
Zerlock : Zerlock is a suite of tools that make analysis and pricing of real-estate more data-driven and scientific. Heavy focus on AI and machine learning, along with data mining in Python Pandas You will split your time between these projects. About the founder Sam Ghosh is a London-based tech-entrepreneur and founder of Shoreditch Tech Ventures. Sam co-founded Earthmiles as a CTO. Earthmiles focuses on health-rewards and incentives (https://earthmiles.co.uk/) Currently also a Partner at Gattaca, an algorithmic trading firm, specializing in cryptocurrencies. Prior to that, Sam worked in banking/hedge funds for over 10 years between London and Hong Kong, and then joined a city-based fund with colleagues from Societe Generale (http://www.voltairecap.com/). Technology Stack Below is our tech-stack and we want someone who knows some of it, and has the enthusiasm and capacity to learn the others very fast
- Django Framework and Python. Django Rest Framework AWS Services for hosting and deployment Distributed Task System - Celery, RabbitMQ, Redis Python/Django testing framework – unit, functional and integration testing Logging systems – Logentries, sentry, opbeat Scraping using python scrapy
- React JS/ Redux framework React JS + React-redux framework React-redux-router Redux-saga NextJS or React Boilerplate React Native
- Knowledge of these technologies would be useful but not essential Git and continuous integration systems Analytics platform like Mixpanel, Google Analytics, Keen.io, Segment.io Mailing systems – MailChimp, Mandrill and their integrations with Django.
Who are we looking for:
A developer with “stay hungry, stay foolish” mindset, who has proven track record of “hacking” from his bedroom/dorm-room for a considerable period of time. You love knowing and learning new technologies and using them towards practical applications and solving real-life problems and making cool things Solving that nagging bug, or learning that new intricate package to fit into your codebase keeps you up till late night. You can think and build things from first-principles when necessary, but also know how to use existing packages and join their dots and integrate them well to the desired end. College-programming degree is great, but not essential. You should be able pick up things fast as you will have a lot to learn. We encourage you to have a say in business plans and directions our projects take and be able to contribute outside tech We encourage you to expand your role to more than a developer (to help in marketing/business/fund-raise) in the near future, given your enthusiasm and ability. The job requires a good attitude towards problem-solving and debugging, and working under tight-schedule. You should aim to work 5 days a week, between our offices in Shoreditch.
Compensation £1000 to £1500 per month, and consideration for a full-time role after 6 months
