Software Engineer Intern - South London

Zinc’s looking for a Software Engineering intern that has an appetite to learn. This is a paid internship that will be demanding learning experience working in a fast-paced startup. This is a generalist Software Engineer role that is an opportunity for someone who would like to gain experience in on a cutting edge stack in a rapid paced agile start-up environment.

Zinc offers autonomy a chance to influence and impact an industry changing product. Work hands-on across a wide set of areas; UI/UX development, API development, DevOps practice, Automated testing, database management.

Zinc offers an opportunity to within a tight-knit startup team that is motivated to get their best work from each other. 

Your day to day:

  • An active member of the technical team working to release regular iterations of the product.
  • Pick up 3rd party integrations, syncing our service on open API's.
  • An active role in product discussions.
  • Analysing the effectiveness of the app to take it to a high engineering spec.
  • Write efficient, maintainable and reusable code and tests.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment
  • Hands-on development: expertise - analyse product specifications, write code and rapidly deliver features.

Your DNA: 

  • Ability to actively listen and read social situations.
  • Enrolled in a credible undergraduate or graduate program.
  • JS programming experience, competent with ES6 JS
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
  • Clean coding best practice, understanding CI and testing practices
  • A chance to learn Vue/Vuetify/Nuxt frontend frameworks
  • A chance to learn about decentralised storage; IPFS and Gaia
  • A chance to learn basic cryptography concepts; hashing and signatures.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment
  • Emotional intelligence, understands how to give and receive honest feedback.
