With Prolific, we're changing how research on the internet is done. Katia and Phelim started by building a marketplace that connects researchers (from both Academia and industry) with instant, high quality, global research participants. Now, as a growing team of 15, the bigger vision is to build the most powerful and trusted platform for behavioral research.

Our two-sided marketplace and ambitious growth plans come with many interesting challenges around how to accelerate growth. Many questions revolve around: How can we improve customer acquisition, conversion and retention? What are the most effective growth levers that we can push to accelerate growth? Given that it's a marketplace, how can we best balance growing our supply (participants) and demand (researchers) sides? The ideal candidate will have experience in a high-growth marketplace startup and a passion for research.

The Role


You will be our first growth hire, so you will help set the foundation for our growth strategy and infrastructure. We are looking for an experienced Growth Manager, who can manage day-to-day analysis and execution across all our marketing, sales and growth channels. As part of our Growth Team and working closely with Leadership and you will work towards these key goals:

  • Help set clear strategic objectives for growth and define growth KPIs and targets.
  • Analyze what drives the growth of our platform and determine what is the best allocation of resources in order to improve growth.
  • Systematically experiment with new growth, marketing and sales channels to help hit targets.

This will likely involve some or all of the following:

  • Using a quantitative approach, assess the whole AAARRR (Pirate Funnel: Awareness, Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Referral, Revenue) funnel and identify where the biggest improvements can be made.
  • Strategically think through existing growth objectives and help us refine our growth roadmap.
  • Help define growth KPIs and targets for acquiring, converting, and retaining new users.
  • Develop, execute, monitor and manage multiple growth programs, including marketing and sales campaigns, to determine which growth channels are most effective.
  • Explore new channels by testing and determining success metrics to suggest new opportunities for growth.
  • Coordinate on growth analysis and campaigns across the company (incl. product / support).
  • Proactively suggest new questions to ask, new data to collect, or product changes to make based on insights from growth experiments.
  • Use analytics software such as Amplitude to create visualizations, segment our user base, and develop dashboards to track key growth, data quality, and demographic metrics over time.
  • Generate regular reports in a reproducible manner which clearly and accurately describe the collection, organization, and analysis of your data and growth experiments.
  • Disseminate the key information to the whole organization in written reports and summaries, which highlight the key insights you’ve gained and which are easily interpretable and actionable.

You will have:

  • 3+ years experience in a hands-on growth role, ideally at a high-growth startup.
  • Quantitative research skills (i.e., ability to analyze large data sets and an ability to design, run and analyze A/B tests).
  • Passion for quant research, psychology, behavioral science or similar.
  • Excitement to work for an early-stage, fast-growing startup.

What we offer:

  • Salary: £45,000 - 65,000 (p.a.), negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
