Starling has entered hyper-growth mode. This year we’ve welcomed over 500 new people and opened offices in Southampton and Dublin (with Cardiff following very soon).

As a digital bank, our technology team is key to our ongoing success. We need an experienced recruiter to find, engage and hire great technologists and product minded people.

Based from our new office in Town Quay, you’ll work closely with our People, Recruitment and Engineering teams across our offices , to support our hiring objectives for Technology and Product in Southampton.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Technology leadership and the People team to understand and deliver recruiting needs in line with headcount requirements
  • Source, engage, and attract high-calibre people to Starling Bank
  • Managing the end to end talent acquisition process to provide a great candidate experience, including shortlisting and conducting first round interviews where appropriate; evaluating candidates and providing feedback; through to offer negotiation and on-boarding
  • Manage relationships with external agencies (where necessary)
  • Help raise awareness of Starling Bank in Southampton and the local area to technology candidates, being a brand ambassador and always looking for new ways to showcase Starling as an employer of choice
  • Support reporting efforts for hiring in Southampton. Ensuring data is updated accurately - if you have ideas on how to improve this, we’d love to hear it!


  • A strong track record in technical and product related hiring, preferably within an in-house or RPO environment
  • Involvement in driving employer brand awareness (through events etc.) would be a bonus
  • Strong knowledge of the local marketplace for technical talent. You will be able to utilise and build upon your knowledge of great technologists. Building relationships for both immediate and long-term hiring needs
  • You’ll bring tangible evidence of driving improvements in candidate experience. Coaching hiring managers; working with other business areas as needed; or even making simple changes, are things you’ll be able to reference
  • Experience in finance/banking is not essential - however, you should be passionate about what we are trying to achieve!
  • You should be a strong communicator, both written and verbally
  • Negotiating and influencing is a big part of hiring. You will be able to do both (with candidates and hiring managers alike)
  • Evidence of being able to manage and prioritise own time is essential
