Oxford Heartbeat are making minimally invasive surgeries safer, faster and more accurate using cutting-edge technology to ensure the best outcome for each patient on an individual basis. We are looking for a Communications Officer to build the Oxford Heartbeat brand, drive awareness of the work we do, and eventually help us bring the benefits of our product to patients worldwide.


  • Management and scheduling of social media marketing via Twitter, LinkedIn and other appropriate channels
  • Generating written and visual content for online and print channels and responding to relevant communications enquiries
  • Working closely with the rest of the team to collate and generate appropriate content for social media, web and print channels
  • Setting and monitoring appropriate marketing and communications KPIs, initially centred around brand engagement and reach and eventually incorporating other product and commercial metrics
  • Management of web content and publishing, including making recommendations for new and innovative ways to drive reach and engagement through our website
  • Providing general communications support to the rest of the team, for example issuing communications material for a usability study
  • Ensuring effectiveness and consistency of company branding and identity
  • Reviewing and proof-reading communications material such as presentations, speeches and pitches given by other members of Oxford Heartbeat

You are

  • An evangelist for more effective and efficient medical procedures - someone who loves our product and is passionate about our mission
  • Creative and conscientious - you understand the importance of tone and know how to use it to build a suitable persona for our brand which reflects who we are and what we do
  • Comfortable with talking to audiences of all levels and adjusting your tone and content accordingly
  • Comfortable with social media, web and print channels of communication and know how to select the most appropriate channel(s) for marketing material
  • Excited by the possibility of growing your career within a start-up


You have

  • A genuine voice - your communications material naturally instills trust in our brand and our product and sounds both innovative and sincere
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • At least one year’s experience in a similar role with demonstrable experience in building a brand and driving awareness, especially through social media channels
  • If possible, a portfolio or examples of work
  • Relevant qualification(s) or appropriate other work experience
