Immuno-Oncology/Immunotherapy Research Scientist Job Description

You will develop an in vitro model for testing immunotherapies. Currently, Pear’s proprietary organ-on-a-chip contains a solid tumour module and a liver module, with an injection circuit to circulate blood and drugs. First, you will incorporate immune cells (e.g., T cells) into the chip and test existing immunotherapies (e.g. CAR T-cell therapies, immune checkpoint inhibitors) to verify the accuracy of the model. Later, you will test new immunotherapies from pharma companies for their R&D.


Job Responsibilities

  • Handle patient tumour and blood samples

  • Co-culture cancer and immune cells 

  • Operate a microfluidic device 

  • Test immunotherapies using various phenotypic and genotypic assays, including 3D imaging and cell viability assays

  • Create assay protocols for commercial drug testing services

  • Translate research into animal/human trials for personalised medicine



  • Master’s or greater in the life sciences

  • Experience in handling/culturing human cells, particularly immune cells

  • Experience in handling human blood

  • Experience in oncology and/or immunology

  • Experience in running various phenotypic and genotypic assays

  • Published papers in the life sciences



  • PhD in the life sciences 

  • Experience in animal/clinical trials

  • Experience in CAR T-cell therapy and immune checkpoint inhibitor

  • 2+ years of work experience in cancer research, immunology, or tissue engineering
