Job Description

We’re not going to be the next Uber, and we don’t want to be. We have a small, passionate team that cares deeply about our customer’s success. We believe in steady growth, quality service and producing an excellent product.

We produce proofreading software that finds mistakes that spelling and grammar checkers can’t spot, such as consistency errors and style issues. Search for our software (PerfectIt) and you’ll see from the reviews that it makes a tangible difference to the working lives of our customers.

We’ve been a fully remote employer since 2015 (before it was cool).

The Role

You’ll be our Employee Number 9! As our QA tester, you will work 10 hours per week to improve the quality of our website and product by:

  • Testing new features and functionality though both manual and automation techniques.
  • Creation and modification of test plans to accurately match the released applications.
  • Communicating issues found and the best path to replications.

Benefits

  • Flexible working hours (10 hours per week).
  • 100% remote (work from anywhere in the UK).
  • Regular virtual social events and yearly get togethers.
  • Salary of £25-28k (pro-rata)

A Typical Week

You will:

  • Create and maintain test plans.
  • Help define and maintain smoke tests.
  • Manually test new and existing features.
  • Help maintain and grow UI and end-to-end automated tests.
  • Join in elsewhere (it’s a small team and there’s always work to jump into).

About You

You care about quality and excellence (in language and in software). You’re a clear communicator, dependable, and highly collaborative. You have:

  • Prior experience within software development, with a good understanding of software development cycles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and a deep understanding of the English language.
  • A degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Computing or English), or equivalent experience with QA and software development.
  • An ability to work from home (Intelligent Editing has no offices).
