Founded in London in 2010, Glassworks is a fresh London fashion brand – totally independent, style-obsessed and passionate believers in bricks-and-mortar boutiques as well as streamlined digital shopping. Our design-led stores and website are refreshed weekly with small runs of completely new fashion – meaning a constant feed of exciting new stuff to try on, helped along by the most dedicated and on it staff-turned-stylists on the planet. With the recent launch of our ecommerce site and flagship store expansion, we are focused on scaling our existing channels and opening additional stores in 2021 – all whilst maintaining a strong design aesthetic, stylish atmosphere in store and strong customer focus.

 

THE ROLE

The Retail Area Manager will drive revenue and profit growth across the retail and ecommerce channels through talent development, process optimisation, brand standard adherence, culture investment, and business development. The successful candidate will oversee a wide range of areas – retail sales, personal styling, stock operations, retail-related HR, property management, and procurement. As the ecommerce channel is newly launched, you will play an active, hands-on role in managing and building the e-commerce fulfilment team in line with growth.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General management
    • Develop and manage the retail store management and e-commerce teams filling in for gaps in the team as needed
    • Set KPIs for all channels and ensure targets are met
    • Manage the personal styling programme (in-person and virtual appointments) in conjunction with store management team
    • Train and manage customer service support team in all non-store customer communications (phone, email, live chat, social media) – monitor and address all escalated cases
  • Stock operations
    • Plan and implement a model stock room and roll out to all stock holding locations
    • Ensure adherence to stock processing deadlines and standards
    • Lead monthly stock takes and oversee stock loss figures – work with line management to ensure stock loss targets are met
  • Stock operations
    • Visit properties to ensure that the visual merchandising is executed to plan, store maintenance standards are maintained, and banking operations are accurate
    • Manage retail and e-commerce related suppliers and contracts (e.g., cleaners, IT)
    • Oversee all property and equipment repairs; implement and manage an issues log system; and, oversee all health & safety checks
  • HR/Culture
    • Manage team-related HR administration and ad hoc issues in conjunction with line management and HR support
    • Oversee the recruitment, training and appraisal programs to ensure full compliance with company policies and standards
    • Structure and oversee investment in company culture and employee journey (e.g., benefits, employee facilities, learning & development, rewards/bonuses)

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 2 years’ retail area management experience, with a strong portfolio in fashion retail (preferably women’s fashion but not required)
  • A strong understanding of P&L and budgets
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills – verbal, written to include writing of procedures and training as well as leading meetings and presentations
  • Highly organized and numerate with strong execution and problem-solving skills
