Movemeback is a global, London HQ start-up on a mission to build a world where anyone can access opportunities anywhere. We have built the first of its kind professional and social networking platform connecting individuals and organisations across the world to career, investment and entrepreneurial opportunities in Africa! Some liken us to a cross between Linkedin, Tinder (connecting people) and Airbnb for African opportunities. Our mission is to apply modern technology to tangibly address some of the world’s largest unsolved problems, related to creating global transparency and access to unique opportunities, connecting people and forming meaningful connections for driving economic development. In Africa we have a target of contributing to the creation of 300 million jobs by 2036. In 2019, Movemeback was named one of Africa’s most inspirational and dynamic private, high-growth companies in the London Stock Exchange Group’s report, Companies to Inspire Africa.

We are building a community that will be used by and hopefully change the lives of millions. In this role you will have exposure to the entire African continent, learning about innovative companies, high impact organisations, and the levers of social and economic development across Africa.

What you will do

As the Head of Community Engagement, you will build, develop and grow an engaged, global community of users, to drive the creation and sharing of opportunities, knowledge and social capital. Through the development and execution of diverse and unique experiences, programs and communications, you will empower and enable the community to learn, share, engage and connect with each other, to ultimately maximise value to our users, and beyond. With brand awareness and brand integrity as top-of-mind, you will be crucial to the development of a strong Movemeback identity, and how our community engages with Movemeback, and each other.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Brand Ambassadorship
    • Be the face and voice of Movemeback, managing the external communication of our brand
    • Build an active community of brand followers and advocates
  • Online community building
    • Curate online experiences that drive learning, connections, engagement and sharing (e.g. webinars, podcasts, other online initiatives). 
    • Drive online contributions, sharing of valuable content and communication among the community on the platform
  • Community content curation
    • Deliver content and drive constant communications and engagement from Movemeback into the community
    • Take responsibility for our community newsletters, website copy, community stories, relevant social media and other community content
  • Offline community building
    • Curate value-added experiences, and develop partnerships to deliver opportunities for the wider community to learn, connect, engage and share
    • Grow, empower and facilitate volunteers and ambassadors to build local community experiences that drive learning, connections, engagement and sharing
  • Expand Movemeback product reach
    • Deliver creative programs to engage potential users, and expand Movemeback’s product reach and use among professionals, entrepreneurs and leaders
    • Drive user growth by creating network effects and viral referral loops

Your key success measures will include value to the community, engagement across all Movemeback platforms, user growth, and referral rates

Due to the current global crisis, this role will begin as a remote role, before transitioning to a role located at our London HQ. Candidates looking to work remotely are also encourage to apply

 

Criteria:

The ideal candidate should be passionate about building communities, and have the following skills and experience:

  • Scientifically creative - more than having great ideas, you can structure and test innovative plans, assess outcomes, and prioritise which to double down on, cancel, or iterate
  • Program management - you can design, plan and execute various different projects, ideas and experiments simultaneously
  • Community building - experience building on- and offline communities, including launching and running events
  • People and team management - able to galvanise and support strong teams to deliver on initiatives
  • Organisation skills - excellent organisational, planning and executing skills
  • Communications - strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interpersonal - excellent judgement in how to handle interpersonal relationships
  • You are social media savvy
