Here at Gousto, we are on a mission to become the UK's favourite way to eat dinner!
Delicious recipes, precise ingredients & a dollop of adventure, delivered to your door. We have invested into our technology, data capability and our product to ensure the customer is at the heart of what we do. Every aspect of our business is powered by our passion.
Whether it is innovation through our recipe development, building algorithms to optimise our recipe box journey or devising strategies to reduce plastic and food waste. All our teams play a part in our amazing growth in the UK!
Our DREAM? To be the most-loved way to eat dinner, and for every meal to leave the planet better off. Gousto is changing how people shop, cook and eat food at home. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join our team!
Gousto has a strong data culture: we believe that data is the voice of our customers and therefore it is an integral part of all departments. We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering Team consisting of Data and Analytics engineers.
You will use modern, cloud-based technologies such as Python, Airflow, Snowplow, Kinesis, Redshift, and AWS Lambda to create, enhance and improve our data pipelines. These pipelines are the backbone to many of our data products - not just to analytics providing deep insights on our customers' behaviour, but also to various machine learning and optimisation algorithms that are a crucial part of our business.
You’ll work hand-in-hand with our Data Scientists and Product Managers, ensuring that the pipeline is clean, efficient and scalable as the business continues to grow massively. If you’re a natural problem solver and are passionate about data, you’ll fit right in.
What you will do!
- Own and improve our Data Pipeline – Data is used at all levels of our business to make key decisions. It also powers numerous algorithms that form a crucial part of our business across our warehouse, procurement, marketing and our digital products.
- Champion building scalable and resilient data infrastructure. We are striving to keep improving it as we grow, so a big part of this role will be investigating next-generation data processing & analytics technologies
- You will continue to scale up our Data Warehouse. Using Redshift you will be accountable across our data pipeline.
- Obsess over quality – As a data enthusiast you must have already heard a quote "garbage in, garbage out". Being able to guarantee accurate data is key.
- Bring new and innovative engineering practices into the team. Our people believe in growth. You will seek to improve and iterate to ensure we are scaling data in the best way!
- You will also get involved in defining and building our Data Infrastructure in AWS, defining resources in code and contributing to Gousto’s larger cloud platform.
We are still in the early stages of our data journey at Gousto and data is already an integral part of our business. We have and will continue to invest significantly in our Data Platform.
As part of our Data Engineering squad you will get to influence and drive our long term data strategy, come up with innovative solutions for ingesting data from disparate sources, ensure data quality and work as part of an Agile squad focussed on getting real-time, quality data to our products and machine learning algorithms.
Who you are!
- Cloud Architecture exposure (AWS and Redshift preferably)
- Extensive experience with ETL design, implementation & maintenance
- Proven experience with data warehousing and data modelling
- Experience of Pyspark and/or distributed compute engines
- Extensive experience with Python
- Ability to write efficient SQL queries
Bonus points for
- Experience with Airflow
- Experience with event tracking (Snowplow or equivalent)
- Experience with graph databases (like neo4j)
- Agile methodology exposure
- Experience with deploying machine-learning algorithms in production
