Your opportunity to join the team behind the UK's leading virtual reality experience and help build a scalable, lean and tech-enabled finance function. Over the next 18 months, OTHERWORLD is expanding from 1 to 4+ sites and growing from 30 to 150 people. We are building out a finance function to support this growth.
You will be the second finance hire and will work closely with the Head of Finance to develop and introduce new systems, processes and controls that will become part of the DNA of OTHERWORLD for years to come.
It is a broad role with the scope for long-term progression for the right performer. You will support various key stakeholders across the business. From supporting the Head of People with payroll benefits, to providing fixed cost reports to the the Head of Operations and site General Managers. We are looking for someone ambitious, who is keen to develop a career in finance and preferably has experience of working in a start-up or hospitality business. You will be interested in challenging standard procedures, and inquisitive about exploring more efficient solutions, even to the most routine processes.
As Finance Associate, you'll be based in our East London office, working directly with and reporting to the Head of Finance.
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Track and reconcile bank statements
Work closely with site General Managers on fixed cost reports
Process monthly payroll and keep organised records
Own the Accounts Payable function and reconcile supplier statements
Provide administrative support during budget preparation
Perform ad-hoc finance analysis and reporting when required
Research new systems, processes and technology products that will help support an efficient finance function
1-3 years experience in a finance role
Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
Proficiency in creating spreadsheets and using financial functions, ideally familiar with Google Workspace and Google Sheets
Experience with Xero or equivalent accounting systems
Character and excitement to work in a start-up environment
Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail
Strong passion for hospitality, gaming and technology
Curiosity to challenge the norms
This role is available on a full-time basis
Salary of £26-34k depending on experience and aptitude
