On Monday we celebrated Halloween or ‘'All Hallows Eve' a a tradition originating from the Celtic festival Samhain, where people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward of evil spirits. In other cultures, Halloween is also seen as a time when the boundaries between worlds is particularly traversal.

Whatever your beliefs, there's no doubt that with spooky season comes lots of fun. Whether you've taken the kids trick-or-treating, carved a pumpkin or two or dressed up for a Halloween party yourself.

In honour of this spooky season, we've compiled a list of bone-chilling startups below.

Phasmophobia

This UK based startup has developed a ghost hunting horror game bound to leave you on the edge of your seat. With a maximum of 4 players, the goal is to walk through spooky scenes equipped with ghost hunting gear to gather evidence. The online game can be played straight from your PC or if you want the full horror experience, through your VR player.

Grimly Fiendish Crafts

If you're into arts and crafts with a spooky twist, this one's for you. This startup creates some of the cutest spooky embroidered creations for you to decorate your home with during spooky season. Each product is handmade and it's easy to see that a lot of love, time and effort goes into them.

Zombait

Okay, so this one's pretty dark. If you're a keen fisherman, Zombait promises to ‘bring dead bait back to life.’ Using an electronic lure that can be placed into a dead bait fish's mouth, it creates an illusion of a live, injured fish struggling in the water thus attracting larger fish to catch. Each Zombait is equipped with batteries that last up to 3 hours and have a durable, corrosion-resistant construction.

Cult Locations Ink

This startup is for all the art lovers. They sell all sorts of hand-drawn spooky prints based on various film and TV shows. The best part is that each print comes framed and the price is super decent! So whether you're into Hocus Pocus or A Nightmare on Elm Street, this startup has you covered with some awesome wall art.
