Fireweed are revolutionizing the nature-based carbon credit market: bringing together a full stack solution that is reliable, efficient and transparent. We also help create sustainable solutions for the communities who we work with, creating livelihoods alongside preserving indigenous forest, which acts as a precious carbon sink for GHGs.

• First and foremost, we are looking for someone who is passionate about making an impact and helping the planet. We are biodiversity and nature lovers.
• As CTO and a Founding Member of the Fireweed team, you will be a key member of the founding team, helping to drive our strategy and growth from inception. You will be responsible for leading the technical vision, strategy and execution of the company.
• We are looking for someone who is ready to play a critical role in shaping our company's technology stack, building a high-performance engineering team, and ensuring the scalability and security of our products/services.
• We are based in the UK but are strongly focused in scaling projects on the ground in Sub-Saharan Africa. It would be a bonus if you have experience or are interested in the region.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Technical leadership and strategy definition. Overseeing technology stack, including software development, infrastructure and technical operations.
• Hiring and management of a team of talented engineers and data scientists.
• Setting and enforcing code quality, best practice and quality assurance.
• Make informed decisions regarding technology frameworks and tools.
• Implement procedures against potential cybersecurity threats and ensure industry compliance.
• Engaging with industry trends and implementing next generation technology where possible to further Fireweed's mission of restoring biodiversity.
• Easy to work with, great communication with your co-founder.
• Strong expertise in relevant technologies, programming languages, etc.
• Good to have: Proven experience as a technical leader, ideally in a start-up or high growth environment.
• Good to have: Experience, knowledge and/or interest in blockchain and AI technologies.

Education

Ideally Bachelor's degree at a minimum in a relevant field, but open to a discussion with applicants who are interested but may not fulfill these requirements.

Equity/Salary

Equity is negotiable depending on experience.

We are unable to pay a salary at present as we are bootstrapping (founder is not taking a salary at present either), but this can change as we receive further funding.

Other Details

• We are based in London but there is no requirement for you to be based in London. While we would eventually like to progress to offices, this is not something that needs to be solved immediately.
• If you would like to be UK based but do not have the right to work, or a visa to do so in the UK, we can help you to make arrangements post initial funding for a visa.

Who else is on the team?

• Myself (the Founder and CEO) - I have a background in law and financing/structuring large scale projects in Africa as well as significant technical expertise in carbon credit finance.
• We also have a strategic advisor with background in investment banking and structured finance as well as large scale capital raising on board.
